Half a million dollars to shoot a baloon down!

That's not including all the logistics that went along with it.

There aren’t a lot or maybe any aircraft in inventory that can brrrrt at 60,000 feet.

KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft, as well as F-22 Raptors were observed loitering in the area, along with a U.S. Navy P-8a Poseidon patrol aircraft. A U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 search-and-rescue plane also flew off Wilmington.

I don’t think a balloon gives off enough of an IR signature…more than likely hit with an AMRAAM.

Not to mention the billions we have spent on SR-71s, U2s, and whatever the latest super secret craft is, could have just used a balloon or two...

This was likely fun for the pilots. Live fire training exercise.

I shot an anti tank weapon that cost 10,000 a pop. More than half the platoon got to shoot. It happens

it would’ve been entertaining to see it get a treatment from the cannons on an A-10 warthog, but I don’t think the warthog can fly that high.

Local witness said she counted 8 planes.

That she could see.

I'm betting a whole squadron was used when a pair (at most) would have been enough.

Do we know for sure what the balloon's altitude was at the moment of intercept?

And do you believe the 'official' story
