What authority does a governor have as commander and chief of his state’s national guard. In theory, could a state shoot that thing down?

To see our response. You know that thing would be on the ground if Trump was president.m in fact, it would have never been launched at all.

Most people probably care. Test run… next time they send balloons with emp or worse. Or maybe this thing has tech that satellites don’t… why not send message this is not allowed?

And the fear of damage on the ground….over fricking Montana? No. I don’t think that’s truthful.

Apparnetly it's still too high, like 100k feet, our fighters can climb to like 60k ish (I think? Somebody in the miliary correct me if I'm wrong).

If only we had one of those jewish space lasers lying around...

Biden needs to get on the horn, tell Xi to get the balloon out of our airspace, and then we go on with our normal lives.

Why doesn’t a landowner just send up another balloon strapped with a pipe bomb to eliminate it.

Does the National Guard have the weaponry to shoot something down @ 66,000 feet? I really don't know.

I say it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

That being said, if a governor does want to shoot this thing down, just make sure it isn't over any federal land.

THAAD or SM3 could hit it. Probably 15-20 million. Is it really worth spending 20 million to shoot it down?

Why not just strafe it with an F-16? It would be good training and if not hit too hard, it might descend slow enough not to damage the spy equipment and we could box it up, send it back to Xi and Biden and Hunter could collect a few million dollars more.

I’m honestly not sure anyone in Texas could shoot it down without dropping $15m or so.
