Principal’s organization

I am one of the biggest supporters of educators there is. My kids are told to answer yes ma’am and no sir, do exactly what they ask you to do, and have the upmost respect for your teachers (adults in general); as parents, that is the least we can do for them. Teachers are held to standards by parents and principals. Principals are held to standards by parents and superintendents. Any where a principal represents their school, shouldn’t those standards travel with them? If they are getting paid by our tax dollars, that answer is ‘without a doubt.’
Let’s have a conversation about the “Principal’s Led Organization” which does not have any ethical standards. I know more than most about this situation only because I used the Freedom of Information Act to access emails from the 2016 Executive Committee. Why did I do it? ‘Things in general’ did not seem right. At worst, I get a bunch of boring emails discussing school related information.
Unfortunately, for the student/athletes of our state, that did not occur. The information obtained from these emails are unbelievable. One email calls for a ‘truce among each other’ so that they don’t talk about one another in public; another is attempting to get a ground swell to get rid of the Executive Committee President; three or four communicate back and forth with a former commissioner asking how to fire Mr. Bonine.
Add that to the 2013 proposal that is unconstitutional and was swept under the rug. In 2016, when the LHSAA legal team told the membership and Executive Committee, the 2016 and 2013 proposals are null and void because they are ‘out of order.’ The public-school membership requested the Constitution be changed to reflect what the principals want!!
The LHSAA Constitution is in place to protect every boy and girl in our state. The LHSAA’s Mission Statement echo’s that same message. By interpreting and enforcing rules, making eligibility rulings, and promoting a high level of sportsmanship, the Executive Director also protects the student/athlete. The Executive Committee is made up of a majority principals who are elected by their peers. They can “Act for the Association on all matters during the interim of its annual meeting;” the Executive Committee can also “make special rules to effect the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship.” They too, protect the student/athlete.
“This is a principal led organization,” but, yet why aren’t these principals held to any standards, especially ethically? This past annual convention, a group of public-school principals wasted a lot of valuable time because 1) They don’t understand the bylaws, 2) They don’t understand the powers of the Executive Committee, and 3) They admittedly do not read emails from the LHSAA. Yet, they come into the convention saying ‘there is a lack of transparency,’ and the LHSAA is doing things without allowing the membership, a principals organization, have a voice. I propose ‘if you want to call yourself a principal’s organization, then carry the same standards when dealing with the LHSAA as you do in front of your faculty.’ If Principals can’t held be accountable for the things they do and say, the student/athletes are the ones that suffer the consequences.
The truth is the action of Executive Committee in September was an attempt to correct an intentional breach of the Constitution 10 years ago. This was led by public school principals. In 2016, it was public school principals who wanted the proposals to stay out of order instead of doing the right thing. In 2020, public schools again and last week, it was again, public schools. I don’t care what proposals you put up or what you vote on but bring more character to the table when you have a concern. Pointing the finger at others when you are the one in charge of your emails is disappointing and careless. The fact principals act like the lost their sense of right and wrong is unacceptable. Be accountable. This entire rant, unfortunately, applies to a lot of the membership. To say there are none that operate with high character and integrity would not be true.
In 2016, after I received most of the FOI emails I requested, I decided to speak at the Executive Committee meeting. My request was for the Executive Committee to make decisions with integrity. Do the right thing for the student/athlete. The Committee was given an opportunity to address me. Winnfield Principal, Jane Griffin took this opportunity to say “You are saying things about me to make me look like I have done things I didn’t do. You said I emailed a former commissioner asking him how to fire Mr. Bonine, that did not happen.” I had the emails sitting right in front of me; everyone in that room knew she lied in front of God, her peers, and the media.
Is the LHSAA membership to the point that saying and doing anything you want is ‘ok’ because you believe “We are a principal’s led organization!” If you are a principal’s organization, then it’s time you start acting like it.

What’s the point here?
I think he wants to point out the fact many school principals in this state are mostly bafoons, borderline corrupt, rarely professional, and often incompetent.
It’s posted on the MSB because the ongoing LHSAA split is one of the results of such terrible leadership.

You went to Rummel I guess; the decisions that are being made or corrupt; go ask Jay Roth why he got out of coaching

What sport does this have to do with? Should this be on the politics board?

no this is about LHSAA
bottomline is the frickign principles dont read emails. less than 12% of the emails sent by the executive committee were opened according to the read recipts obtained through the FOIA
but yet they are crying about the decisions.
but why is it fair for a school like many to be able to take kids from every school in the parish that want to play football....essentially giving them 5a enrollment, but playing in public 2a
same goes for every other school that takes kids out of zone. sorry if you take kids out of zone, you are now select. sorry that you dont like it, is what it is
what pisses me off as someone who graduated from a public school is the lack of wanting to get better and compete. Kids and families dont voluntarily want to pay taxes to the local public school and then turn around and pay another 10-15k to go to a private school. the problem is most of the public schools are trash.
Many of the ones that arent trash academically, are trash when it comes to sports. Im not talking abotu the winning and the losing, im talking up and down the orginization
-no off season programs
-no weight lifting in season
-not watching and breaking down film
-no practice plans
-no tracking of metrics to see who and how they are improving and what you can do to get them better
for some sports...practicing only an hour or so 3-4 days a week etc
many kids want to strive for excellence and are going to seek better alternatives when presented. yet assholes like the challmette guy want to own the kids in their district and want to punish the kid for seeking a better situation
why? because they are old assholes who think because a kid lives in a district they owe it to others to stay in play in that district.....afraid of being left behind so they try and hold others back too. same thing that is a fricking issue across the state
all you have to do is go watch a public vs private school game. the venom coming from the public school kids about the private school kids being "rich" is assinine. So what now....we make fun on success?
this whole split really boils down to the public school principles wanting to be able to get more teams in the playoffs so it makes them look good. not really a competition thing. they want the 3 win team to get in and get mercy ruled
if we are going to remain in the split, then we need to keep it like last year and redo the district and enrollment numbers for the regular season to match the layout from last year
-4 classifications in both select and non select
-keep definition of select that was adopted last year(except Many should be added)
-keep the classifications as even as possible and set the cut off line based off that enrollment
-make the new districts based off those classifications.
plenty of time to have this rolled out and ready to go for the 2023 fall season.

You want to blame me but if me or my school didn’t exist, nothing would change

This is an opinion piece/analysis of the LHSAA written by Coach Todd Black. He is a commentator on the Louisiana Prep Scoreboard associated with 104.5 fm in Baton Rouge. Article
I thought it was a good piece, maybe I'm biased, as my boys (not athletes except for lax) went through a New Orleans Catholic school b/t 2010 and 2018. I'd like to see the state united as it used to be before 2013.
He also supports Eddie Bonine, and given some of the garbage that has been thrown out about Bonine, and at him by some insiders and principals, it seems about time that someone notes these things.

has nothing to do with you being a complete a-hole who wants to control kids who live in your district and force them to choose
1) go to chalmette high, which is an inferior school to the nola based catholic schools in every way, and be eligible imeediately.
2) go to catholic school and at best have 2 years of elgibility like you stated in the other thread
so essentially control kids from bettering themselves solely so your school doesnt get left behind
god forbid you build up the academics, the facilities and the coaching so you wouldnt loose kids.....but nope, got to control them because their address is in our district
just an fyi if it wasnt for the parents of the catholic school kids paying most of the taxes....nola area schools would be even more dog shite.

I would think them not being able to play for the state championship has a lot to do with that… some people still say it was a mistake to let private schools in the LHSAA and we let them in back in the 1930s

Typical east banker who thinks no other part of Louisiana matters. Yall assume every private and parochial school is superior to every public school in Louisiana. News flash - they aren't. I don't doubt the privates are better in metro areas. But there are a lot of us who live in smaller towns with great academic schools and good athletic programs. How hard is it to understand that it isn't fair for a school like Welsh, getting students from Welsh, competing against Notre Dame, getting students from 6 parishes?

I competed at one of the schools that got boned by privates probably more than any other school in the state. during that time period, 2009-2013, we got beat by parkview in the quarters, parkview in the dome, st charles in the 2nd round, and Notre Dame in the first round. Add to that the numerous other losses to probates in other sports playoffs (mainly parkview (frick u boaty). You know what we should’ve done in each of those instances? Be better. The point of a championship is to determine the best. The current system isn’t doing that. I wish they would at least do some sort of combined championship after the public and private titles.
