Da Wabbit
You get one of the big top floor suites of the round Holiday Inn?

Old Gretna is safe and nice.
Take a drive to Algiers Point. Hit up Tavolino for pizza or the new Tonti’s Bistro. Stop by Crown & Anchor or Old Point Bar for drinks.

Enjoy your intact truck windows
If you're there Saturday morning, there's a farmer's market under the pavilion. In addition to crafts/fresh produce/etc, booths have done charbroiled oysters & boiled shrimp the last few weekends
Thai DJing & Banana Blossom for Thai
Da Wabbit, Gattuso's, Gretna Depot for casual spots
Cafe Zen opened recently at 2nd/Lafayette St. if you want sushi
Amore is a good stop for coffee
Stained Glass Wine House has a nice atmosphere to grab a drink
Closer to the expressway there's Turmeric for authentic Indian and of course Tan Dinh across the way
Good recs here for the Point...I'll add Barracuda for tacos and margaritas

Cafe Zen Banna Blossom
It is pretty cool that both of these places started at a strip mall on Belle Chasse Hwy and moved on to bigger and better. Banna Blossom is one of the best Thai places in the city.

Like Drock said...Stained Glass is a great place to get a drink and try small pours of a nice variety of wines you might not ordinarily buy.
