It’s a good strategy if you don’t want to pay child support.

A friend of mine is counting down the months to freedom from a psycho bitch as we type.

So probably dumb question cause I don’t know anything about this:

1) why divorce at that point? why not just agree to go your separate ways. Try and work out how to split finances outside of court. Once lawyers get involve, I assume it gets messier
2) do you have to follow through if wife serves you divorce papers? What if you just don’t agree with signing?

At that point, if you don’t like each other, why not? You’ve done your sentence. Go enjoy your life.

Life is short. Staying in a miserable marriage isn’t good for anyone. Your children can see your misery. Why drag it out?

Yep. No child support. No shuffling kid back and forth. Kid can decide where they want to stay and with who. No talking to ex.

Another thing to consider is alimony. The longer you’re married the more and longer you’ll pay.

The first 20 years of marriage is the hardest.

This is why I'm okay with being single. Divorce is at an all time high.

As long as you and your spouse aren’t screaming at each other in front of kids, this is a good idea. However, if you’re fighting non stop do it for your children. They’ll thank you when they’re old enough to realize it

If you haven’t tried therapy, do so. The years with young kids are the hardest. Plus, if you divorce, you will never be truly rid of her for another 16 years, especially if you want to be an involved father. And the more involved you are with your kids over the next 18 years, the more involved you will be with her. A vindictive ex-wife/babymamma can be horrifying. Try to work it out first. You have 16 years of dealing with her and paying her regardless.

Wait and go to counseling. Don't be selfish unless you have Biblical grounds

That's what a buddy of mine did, saved him a lot of problems, considering his wife was bat shite crazy.
