They do know these are animals, correct? Not people.
Song of the South, the film, has mainly animated animal characters but also has a group of children and a black man playing the fictional character of uncle remus. This is what he looks like in the movie
So he was depicted as someone living in rural America in the 1940s. Not really seeing how that depiction is an archaic depiction. It wasn't an archaic depiction from the time period that story was set.

It opened in 1992. I went the year it opened. At magic Kingdom.
It opened in 1989 in land.

But if you went to Land in the 80s, America Sings had the entire end scene of Splash Mountain with different music.

I hadn’t seen the movie or read the books In probably 35 years so I had to look it up on Wiki. Apparently the Disney folks were concerned even upon its 1946 release that the film may be perceived as racist, yet they made it a ride despite the apprehension. For those interested, this line from Wiki points out what people likely find objectionable:
You are such a pussy. Go frick yourself. You liberals have lost your fricking minds

There were some pretty negative stereotypes in the original movie from what I remember. Was much of that even incorporated into the ride?
Last time I went to Disney you had tickets for individual rides like the county fair. This was late 70’s.

The amount of cross dressers and trannies in Disney is borderline inappropriate for children. The staff there is becoming filled with the entitled millenials who want to wield what little power they have in Disney. Covid made it much worse.
I walked out of Rockin Rollercoaster last year because the blue haired Disney worker inside the ride threatened to kick me out because my mask had slipped beneath my nose 3 times. You are absolutely right, they LIVE to wield their “power”, especially if they are able to discern that you aren’t a sniveling liberal, which makes me a pretty easy mark.

Yes, all of it
Every black person and every liberal I’ve ever seen come off that ride has been in absolute tears because of the blatant racism they experienced on that ride.
I recall one time, this heavyset colored woman was so distraught when she got off the ride, that she collapsed from shock. She looked like she had see a ghost. I was worried so I sang her two lizzo songs and gave her some fake eye lashes and she popped right back up

I think it’s funny they deemed it racist but let it run for a while before shutting it down. I think it’s ridiculous to claim it racist, but if that’s what you decide, why not shut it down immediately? Are they giving riders one last time to be racist?
Because they don’t really think it’s racist. They re-theme or replace rides all the time, but this time they saw they could score some woke points.

Eh, not sure I'd agree with that but can see where today's society may try to draw that inference.

None of it. Uncle Remus wasn't even depicted in the ride at all, just the animated characters...a fox, a rabbit, and a bear, among other animal characters. The only other reference from the film was the Zippedeedoodah song from the film
Here is a youtube video of the entire ride. Most of it is just depictions from the Uncle Remus fairy tale stories. It's like people have no idea the film is based off a book of children's fairytales published in the 1880s. It's no different really than Mark Twain books being "cancelled" because they accurately portray a period of time and dialect much different than present day. But this ride doesn't even do that like the books did.

...in other news Disney had no comment on the ride being universally known as Flash Mountain by over served teens and young adults.

Before this story broke, you could random survey 10,000 frequent Disney-goers and ask them the question “Is there any ride or attraction you offends a you and one you want shut down?”. I bet you wouldn’t have ten people that said Splash Mountain. But then again…. The very very small minority always wins out in these situations.
