I tend to agree. But in the context of a civil dram shop case the bar will have an uphill battle arguing she was barely illegal.

The law is very clear that it only applies to those over the age or majority. She was a minor so it’s black and white on that issue
The argument will be over how she obtained the drinks

is anyone here actually saying that? I doubt anyone cares about underage drinking. Drinking is part of college, it is so dumb that we accept that while it is illegal for most college students to drink.
That hypocrisy doesn't justify the shitty business practices of reggies. There have been shootings, stabbings, rapes, and fights inside and at parking lot of reggies for years. They appear to have never changed anything despite all that.
The owners of reggie's shouldn't be the focus of the rage but I have zero sympathy for their coming lawsuits.

If it costs $$ for programming & manhours to implement this capability, then make it a paid add-on service fee.

If you haven’t seen all of the posts about “how in the world could they let her drink under 21…..those devils….those heathens”…..then you have missed a lot of posts.
And if that is what people want to be a top issue then stand on it. No alcohol at any time for any college student at LSU until they turn 21 (junior year)…in South Louisiana. Let’s see how firm everyone’s stance is on that. Can’t be a gray area. You are either in or out on it.

few and far between from what I've read, and unfortunately been pretty locked into this thread for whatever reason.
No one familiar with tigerland is surprised people are underage or that this started at reggie's

So let’s just say you got a chick to go to the abc and be like safe space for women bar and pretend like she would be the owner where Reggie’s is do y’all think it would work?
Im sure you gotta lease the space too which is nbd. I don’t have any experience running a bar but bar owner seems like a good job

And it was the number 1 issue brought up by the President
And maybe I didn’t clarify that not just talking about on this site. Tons of those sentiments on social media.

I haven’t seen what you’re describing. Reggie’s is a known offender and it’s a running (true) joke that high school kids go there to get drunk

You have me confused on this one…haha

and most people are critical of him on here and the student feminist group
so pretty universal disapproval of that statement

They’re probably just gonna freeze the license and try not to give it to whoever ends up with the space so you give them a nice story and have “lady owner” to get license reinstated
Gotta play the game baw
But unfortunately they’re probably just gonna give it to Fred’s guy and he can just knock the wall down between the two bars

the fact that the 17 year old had to ask her five times if she wanted to have sex is telling...
Actually an odd detail they added about asking 5 times. Was this in order to capture it on video? If so, it speaks to their knowledge of her being incapacitated and needing to cover themselves.

Does the person committing the act have a defense if he too is incompacitated and therefore is not able to know or should know the victim was unable to give consent? are there any criminal defense attorneys in here who can provide the answer?
I imagine he may run into issues based upon his own statements in which he said the girl was "drunk, drunk".

It will take millions of good people to stop it

Let not pretend these kids don’t have fake ids or don’t just have someone buy it for them. It’s not exactly difficult to get around the 21 laws.
That doesn’t stand up in this case.
She was an employee at the bar just 5 months before she was killed. Her age was known and she was personally known there by her employer and her fellow employees. Fellow bartenders definitely knew her.
A fake ID would have gotten a wink.

I've never been to this bar but there were known bars like this in Austin during my undergraduate years at Texas. I knew people that worked at bars where underage kids knew they could drink.
I think establishments that break the law by serving underage kids are less likely to "look out" for their obviously intoxicated female patrons as they are leaving the bar. Do you want to shine a light on a potentially underage person getting so drunk at your business that they can't get home? Parents could find out. Law enforcement could find out.

Just a quick search
“One can only hope. I'd like to see that fricker who owns the place in jail. How many times can you get hand rapped for underage drinking? He's a fricking scourge who deserves whatever bureaucratic hell anyone in power can throw at him.”
“so what are you going to say if (when) it is confirmed that reggie's was giving her drinks? then is the grilling acceptable?“
“Reggies has a long history of not giving a shite.
One could also argue the Louisiana ATC is complicit in that they are fully aware of what happens in Tigerland.”
“had a child that almost died in OLOL after drinking in Reggie's under age. Darren told me it was because I was a bad parent and did not raise my child right. I was about to have him taken care of but was talked out of it.“
“So Reggie’s workers obviously knew her age and still served her“
“John Landry and Darren Adams need to be sued personally into oblivion along with the IRS looking into all of the cash they have buried over the years.“
“They were breaking the law with underage drinking. I’m good with it.“
“why stop at that bar
they all do the same thing “
