Will be in that area in late May. Already have some stuff planned. Any recommendations of stuff to do?

Sorry I can’t offer anything, but Croatia on my list so I’ll be following.

Had a trip booked for Slovenia (flying into Ljubljana) in 2020, but got Covid cancelled. Feel like you've got to visit Bled if already there. There's some really cool looking hiking in Triglav as well.

Ive been to Croatia (Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb and Plitvice National Park which is amazing) and I've been to Ljubliana and Lake Bled.
Dubrovnik is a fantastic old town with great beaches.
Split has the Palace of Diocletian, the Roman emperors retirement palace. Its also a big late night party town.
Zagreb has a big cafe culture.
Ljubliana is very tiny but worth a day or 2 of exploring.
Lake Bled is a beautiful town in the mountains.

Ljubjana is small and walkable - the city center is a pedestrian only zone. You can do all the major sites in a day or two. I also did a guided day tour from there that went to Skocjan Cave, Predjama Castle, the horse farm where they breed Lipazen horses and then Piran - a little city on the coast. That was a good tour that packed a lot in. Skocjan cave is amazing. Pretty sure its a UNESCO site.
And definitely go to Lake Bled. It's a short bus ride away. You can visit as a day trip but I would stay there for a few days as it is really nice and there is plenty to do in the area. Walk around the lake or take a boat ride out to the island. Rent a car and visit Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bohinj and drive over the mountain through Triglav NP into the Socca River valley.
I took a train from Ljubljana to Zagreb, which was easy and a scenic ride. Zagreb is a cool and beautiful city that I think is underrated. It's worth a few days imo. And definitely try to get down to Plitvice Lakes NP. That place is stunning. You can stop there on the way to Split if you're planning on hitting the Croatian coast.

Been to all of them. Agree with the previous posters rec's.
Rovinj, north of Pula and there were a couple interior towns that we visited. Have to think about it.

Thanks everyone. Definitely planning on seeing Lake Bled. Also going to try to make it to Brijuni wildlife reserve near Pula

I've done a day trip to Pula, didn't have a chance to do more there because of visa issues with my wife's grandparents but it was a fun town to explore.
We also did the Postojna Cave in Slovenia as part of the same trip.

Agree on the Trip Reports. Some good stuff there.
Were were in Croatia and Slovenia a few years ago. My best trip ever.
Croatia
We stayed 1 day in a beautiful costal town: Opatija.
LINK
One of the most pleasant towns you can find on the Adriatic coast. Even if there are no major things to do in Opatija, the location, the vibe, and the beautiful architecture definitely make up for that, making the town one of the best places to visit in Croatia.
Plitvice National Park is one of the Wonders of the World and not to be missed. We spent 3 nights there.
Slovenia
The Capitol City of Ljubljana is a beautiful small city. You can base there and do day trips if you wanted to.
Lake Bled is beautiful and maybe a 40 minute drive from Ljubljana. We stayed there 2 nights and really enjoyed it.
Our favorite part of the trip was staying in Kobarid and doing day trips around the Soca Valley. Some of the prettiest scenery you'll ever see. We stayed there 3 nights in a charming small inn.
If you're a history buff, you have to tour the WW1 Battlefields. the Soca River Valley was the scene of the greatest conflicts on Slovenian soil during the First World War.
One of WWI's bloodiest frontlines
I hope to go back one day. It was that special a place to me.

My Croatia review is here:
I've been longing to go back ever since I left.
Well done!
Question: Where would you want to go back to?
