Figuring out where to hit Crews in the lineup is a luxury
He's gonna get his stats wherever he falls
I really want to see this lineup put more pressure on the defense, get aggressive on bases and in certain situations

I'd like to see it too, but it will probably have to come toward the bottom of the lineup.
It's going to be really hard to justify running Crews or Morgan with Tanks coming up to knock them in.

I think he will be at leadoff. He always seems more comfortable there than anywhere else plus he will see a ton of good pitches with Morgan/White/Pearson in some order coming up after.
ETA: if I’m Jay I just go up to Crews and say “where do you want to hit?” And then just build the lineup around that lol.

Kling and Neal will start over Stevenson and Milazzo. 2B and DH will be rotating positions to allow more guys to play. Rotation will be Skenes, Floyd, and Hurd (if healthy) and Taylor will be the closer and Little will most likely start mid weeks. Also watch out for Chase Shores (freshman RHP) Johnson really likes him.

By SEC play hoping it’s something like this:
Morgan 1B
Crews CF
White 3B
Pearson LF
Jones DH
Thompson SS
Dugas 2B
Kling RF
Neal C
Opening night, guys like Milazzo & Dugas & maybe even Jobert will get the nod. These will be the 3 positions pushed the most (C,2B, DH).
Merrfield, Guidry, Nippolt can and will play multiple spots very likely on the inf.
Ruddel deserves some ABs in the OF and Johnson loves Stevenson for whatever reason. Morgan could get some time out there too

If Merrifield continues his fall hot streak he's a shoe in at 2B between his defense there and his hot bat now.
Dude was just killing it all fall.

That's what I'm over here saying as I read all these predictions. A lot of people have seemed to quickly forget how well he was doing this fall. If he continues that this spring, I don't know how Jay keeps him off the field.

Yeah we know at 2B he was a JUCO gold glover.
But he hit .429 this fall by my count and 15 of his 27 hits went for extra bases. He only struck out 8 times in at least 73 plate appearances too. If you isolate what he did against ULL and the P&G world series alone he went 6 for 18 with 4 doubles, 3 SO and and HBP.
He's gotta be a mile ahead of anyone right now going into winter practice for that 2B job.

I've asked this question in a lot of places; but haven't gotten a response yet.
Anyone hear anything or know when the team is starting open scrimmages for the spring? Would've thought with the season only 4 weeks away that they would be starting soon. Any coaches committee guys know anything?

Jay gonna be doing plenty of tinkering before conference.

Think the NCAA doesnt allow anyone to practice till like Feb 1st or something

He likes to do the simulated weekends rather than every day scrimmages leading up to the season like Paul did. I think they're set to start next weekend but I'm not certain.

Yeah, I know he only likes to do weekends. That's how he has been in the fall as well for the most part.
But Hunt just replied to me on another board and said he checked with the team (probably Jay) and this was the response:

They are not going to scrimmage until middle of next week. They'll announce the schedule next week.

Merrfield hit well last offseason too. I recently heard Jay speak about him and it definitely sounds like he will get a fair shot. Not sure I get full fledged starter vibes from him yet as a player but he’ll get a chance for sure

1. Josh Pearson, RF- .332 11 HR
2. Tre Morgan, 1B - .365 12 HR
3. Dylan Crews, CF- .381 26 HR
4. Tommy White, 3B- .344 28 HR
5. Paul Skenes, DH- .318 14 HR
6. Paxton Kling, LF- .303 11 HR
7. Gavin Dugas, 2B- .298 15 HR
8. Jordan Thompson, SS- .292 10 HR
9. Alex Milazzo, C- .235 6 HR
These are my unrealistic predictions for the season. I am aware that these numbers for everyone across the board is most likely not going to happen but I feel like each player is capable of those stat lines.

Not even close to this year

.274 compared to sitting at .429 right now
Similar plate appearances between the 2 right now and he has just 8 SO compared to 16 last year. 5 walks last year, 8 this year. Doesnt show XBH but I doubt he had anywhere close to 15 of those last year with just 17 hits total.
Definitely hitting the ball astronomically better than offseason last year.

Mentioned earlier in this thread, Skenes will only hit twice a week, once on a weekend typically. Start on mound friday, rest Saturday, hit on Sunday and 1 weekday game.
It makes total sense to not hit him the day after he pitches and to only hit him in 1 midweek game.
But the prior poster said what if our staff was good enough that we could save him to pitch Sunday, then maybe he could DH Fri and Sat?
Unless you think he needs the day off before he pitches.

I’d prefer Pearson in LF rather than RF. We saw last year how difficult that spin can be if you’ve never been in Right. LF is an easier ball to track.
