quote:If pastor's are saying what they are saying because they are motivated by money, then they are wolves preying on the flock of Christ. No pastor of a flock should say anything but the truth in love, because the flock doesn't belong to him, but to Jesus, and he will be accountable to the Good Shepherd for how he leads.
I am having a hard time following though for a few reasons.
First I have to believe that the percentage of trannies is remarkably low and if I was going to that church and the pastor made that comment I would stop going .
Who puts money in the collection plate that allows for payment of the expenses and the salaries of the minister
I guess if enough people go and empty their wallet then it's fine

A lot of these churches are just social advocacy organizations now.
Now why people go to "churches" to hear banal social justice platitudes with Christian flavoring when they probably get the same things on social media, TV, Hollywood, etc. - I don't know.

Two main branches of Presbyterians in the US. Presbyterian Church in America is conservative and Calvinist in theology. Presbyterian Church USA is liberal. They split I think in the 80s.

Is that statement by the pastor really following the Bible and teachings of Christ ? Are they ... trannies really divine? Any other segment of the population divine?

I'm not condemning anyone to hell, I'm just saying they're insane and not healthy.
Which is true.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for someone is tell the unvarnished truth. These people shriek when they hear it, much like the demons who possessed people in Jesus' day shrieked at his presence.

Correct me if I am wrong.
How can someone be called transphobia. Isn't a phobia an irrational fear. Since it isn't irrational to have angst when near a person that is insane, how can it be classified as a phobia?

quote:Of course not. He's a wolf. I'm not defending him at all. I was just commenting generally about how anyone who says what they so for money (or recognition and approval, even) is not following Christ and will be judged even more harshly by Him.

quote:Certainly not. This "pastor" is wrong to defend sin and call it something other than sin.

fricking protestants.
Protestants aren't Christians. They're just quitters who make up their own rules as they go.

The denomination of this guy's church is
"Evangelical Lutheran Church in America..."
That says it all - they are a very confused group of people.

I've been reading the book, The Bruised Reed, by Puritan Richard Sibbes, and he had a wonderful statement from the book: "What was said of Pharaoh shall be said of all heady enemies, who would rather lose their souls than their wills".
It's true: The natural man would rather suffer for eternity rather than give up his own sovereignty. Even false religion is based on what man does rather than what God does. This Lutheran "pastor" has replaced God's word for something better, in his estimation: man's word.

He warned us about this. It has grown by leaps and bounds over the last century.

Orthodoxy is the only Christianity that will stay true.

I thought the only human divinity was jesus?

quote:Excellent point.
Now, it's true that we've been instructed not to judge others, but we've either forgotten - or purposely misconstrued - what "judging" means in the context of scripture.
Judging =/= Counseling
Judging =/= Disagreement
Judging =/= Condemnation of behavior (i.e. love the sinner, hate the sin)
We’ve misapplied the injunction to “judge not” as well. St. Paul makes clear harsher judgment, judgment that comes with excommunication or breaking fellowship, are for those within the Church who claim the name of Christ but live otherwise.
quote:Pretty harsh, but in context Paul is addressing a situation where a church member is having sex with his father’s wife, his stepmother apparently.
I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders?
Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
1 Corinthians 5: 9-13
quote:
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
1 Corinthians 5: 1, 2.
This Lutheran “pastor” and wife ought to be shown the door and ignored. They’re not crazy, they’re deluded and evil. Their plans for the child are child abuse and they’re leading their flock to the pit.
quote:
And he said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come!
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.
Luke 17: 1, 2

Yeah, I know, individual spirituality sucks. We must all conform.
