“In its scientific opinion, the (European Food Safety) Authority concluded that Acheta domesticus (house cricket) partially defatted powder is safe under the proposed conditions of use and use levels. Therefore, that scientific opinion gives sufficient grounds to establish that Acheta domesticus (house cricket) partially defatted powder when used in multigrain bread and rolls, crackers and breadsticks, cereal bars, dry pre-mixes for baked products, biscuits, dry stuffed and non-stuffed pasta-based products, sauces, processed potato products, legume- and vegetable- based dishes, pizza, pasta-based products, whey powder, meat analogues, soups and soup concentrates or powders, maize flour-based snacks, beer-like beverages, chocolate confectionary, nuts and oilseeds, snacks other than chips, and meat preparations, intended for the general population, fulfils the conditions for its placing on the market in accordance with Article 12(1) of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283.”

Do you think this should be banned, eliminating consumer choice?
Or are you worried this will become mandated?

I think it should be mandated to be disclosed on the packaging that it’s made from processed crickets.
Let the market decide if it has a place in society.
My concern is they will substitute it in food products and not disclose it.

You don't have free markets any more. This is akin to "If you don't like it, build your own internet".

Try not relying on the government to feed, cloth, and shelter you then.

Seeing as things like artificial flavors are patented and are not explicitly listed in detail on nutritional information, we might not necessarily get the option to clearly choose in all cases. Could be that we see new protected items appearing, benign sounding and all.
Consumer choice is always best, but it has to be informed consent.

What will happen is that they will legislate the death of mass farming.
This is where “alternatives” come into play.

Yeah, this is going into most products in EU.
