This is exactly what Woodward wanted

When he hired Matt McMahon. A decent coach who will take no risks recruiting and not grab any headlines or make a scene. Much rather invest in football and women’s basketball and just hope we find someone who can keep their mouth shut and not get in trouble.
It’s blatantly obvious that across the gym, there’s a young, energetic coach who is this program on the rise, and is willing to recruit the best players and let them play key roles. We had that guy too. Unfortunately, Scotty didn’t hire him himself, and got annoyed that he made comments about the leaky gym and figured it wasn’t worth the headache. Why should I care about LSU basketball if LSU doesn’t care about LSU basketball? Embarrassing.
But hey, “we promote women’s players the same as men’s” is a helluva recruiting tactic for Mulkey to use. So I hope Woodward is happy, he got the Trent Johnson that he was hoping for.

No investment in the program tells you everything.

Woodward is a fricking loser.

Yeah man it does really suck that things had to turn out the way they did, especially seeing other schools with a worse history than ours investing in basketball. I think McMahon is a good coach and a great guy but as I said in my thread the other day he has to have us competing at a high level ASAP to keep up with the rest of the conference.

Would you buy season tickets to watch this circus?
It's going to be interesting seeing the audience in the PMAC next game.
Then when we lose to Fl St???

This message board really does shine a light on how shitty our fanbase is.

Folks here are so stupid. Two weeks ago y'all were giddy, now you're pissed, two weeks from now you'll be giddy again.
Just yank the string and y'all react.

No, of course not. But that doesn’t matter, they can just milk women’s basketball for all it’s worth and that’ll be good enough to keep the PMAC standing for a few more years. LSU would rather focus on other things and it shows.
The general cared too much about winning basketball games and not enough about politicking with the LSU brass. That may work some other places, would probably work here in football or baseball, but unfortunately basketball isn’t on that list.

Woodward pulled Mulkey who wanted to leave Baylor and Kelly who wanted to leave ND. Two coaches that wanted out for greener pastures.
Can’t comment on baseball but I assume every coach wants to coach at a place like LSU, Texas, etc

Who cares, Baseball cranks up at the Box on Feb 17. Basketball is just something to fill the space between football and baseball.
LSU hasn't had a real Basketball coach since Daddy Dale.

I upvoted because I share your frustration around the basketball program.

If every coach in America wants to be here, why don’t we always have the best coaches? Oh because the AD still has to pick the right ones.
Give McMahon time. The entire roster is transfers picked up at the last minute. That’s not how you build a program, but he had no choice.

The basketball fanatics need to be patient....CMM sill win, and it will take a few years.
