Worst Second Half Collapse in Sports History?

An Alabama High School basketball team had a 19 point halftime lead, eventually lost the game by 30, and that loss comes to a team that had lost 65 straight games.

Jacob Branch Leads Samson to 67-37 Win over Emmanuel Christian to Snap 65-Game Losing Skid

Jacob Branch scored 25 of his game-high 30 points in the second half to lead Samson to a come-from-behind 67-37 victory over Emanuel Christian of Dothan.
The victory snapped a 65-game losing streak that dated all the way back to 2020.

Emmanuel Christian led 21-2 at the half, but Branch caught fire as the Tigers outscored the Warriors in the final two quarters to secure Samson’s first boys’ basketball win since beating McKenzie 73-54 on January 21, 2020.

Sounds like the (losing) head coach said something that pissed his team off at halftime.

Yea but that wasn’t a title game.

28-3 was a choke job type collapse. There are other collapses where you just lose momentum, over confident, other team is actually better but started slow and got hot. An NFL team blowing a 28-3 lead halfway through 3 Q in the SB is unacceptable on every level. And it speaks volumes about the team, city, and especially their fans

OP didn’t say it had to be. Matter of fact, his example is a friggin high school basketball game.

A couple weeks ago, the Colts were up 33-0 to the Vikings at the half and up 36-7 with less than 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and ended up losing the game

Aggie losing to UCLA a few years ago was pretty bad. Think they were up 35 points

Worst one I ever witnessed was LSU vs Kentucky back in the 90s….

31 points — Maryland defeats Miami on Nov. 10, 1984

31 points — Texas Tech defeats Minnesota on Dec. 29, 2006
31 points — TCU defeats Oregon on Jan. 2, 2016
31 points — Tulsa defeats Fresno State on Sept. 24, 2016
30 points — California defeats Oregon on Oct. 2, 1993
But the one with the least time was UCLA/TAMU with like 4 minutes left in the 4th.

Troy-LSU '08. Troy just kept throwing the ball and stopping the clock.
Bills-Oilers
Not a single game, but the Sox coming back from 3-0 in the 2004 ALCS to make the WS was pretty epic. frick the Yankees.
I remember the Stars going down 5-0 early in a game against the Devils, I think, back in the late 90's. They came back to win 6-5. I'd almost fallen asleep and my dad wanted to change the channel but I persisted

Boston Bruins were up 3-0 in a series against the Flyers. Flyers forced a game 7, and the Bruins were up 3-0 in that game 7 and blew the game and series.
