Which one would be the better weekend getaway? Going to the Bay is to far for a weekend and that is where I will go over the summer anyway.

Galveston has to be more charming than Corpus Christi.

Galveston? Hell you boys are in Mexico, worse yet, the part you're standing on belongs to Pedro Floyres, he finds you here he'll hang you sure

Galveston has more charm, if you can call it that.

I would probably suggest Kemah/Gal over CC. Kids going?

How about neither. Go to Port Aransas.
Honestly Galveston is not bad if you go like right now and just pick a decent weekend. Not crowded at all. My wife and I went back in October when our Cabo trip fell through and stayed at the Hotel Galvez and it was a cool hotel and trip.

As someone with extensive knowledge on both, I will say it depends on what you are looking to do.

Just get out of Austin go relax on beach enjoy life for weekend.

Of those two, Galveston. Not sure why anyone would visit Corpus. If going South I'd suggest Port Aransas or Rockport over Corpus.
Edit: Just get out of Austin go relax on beach enjoy life for weekend.
South Padre for the best beach by a mile, it would be a long drive or short flight.

Padre Island National seashore is a great place to hang for a day, bring a surf rod

Go past Corpus and go to Port Aransas

I live in CC now and wouldn't exactly call the place a vacation getaway
It's been a long time since I've been to Galveston and I don't recall that being paradise either
If you go to the CC area I'd just go to Port Aransas as someone else mentioned

They're supposedly going to start redeveloping the Balinese Room pier site. Kinda neat if it happens.
City just never felt the same after Ike.
