I wonder if Antoine Sampah and Phillip Webb returning is possible? It appears that they haven’t signed with another team. Are they bad?

It appears they want to run more of a 4-2-5 defense

What would make you say that they want to run an even-front? Every single EDGE they've brought in has been of the stand-up/hybrid OLB persuasion. I think Quency wiggins is about the only traditional hand-in-the-dirt defensive end on the entire roster. Every other guy is a hybrid DT/DE (which slot in as "DE" in House's scheme) or a hybrid DE/OLB (which is the JACK spot).

3-3-5, yes, maybe. 4-2-5, no. Regardless, the upshot of this is that they only need two "traditional" linebackers regardless of which of these is the proper label. 2 true "ILB" type LBs and one pass-rush type (the jack position). So you've got Weeks and Perkins and Penn for two spots, and after that you really just need depth. I think they'll be more than fine if they can land one solid, starting-caliber guy.

Our base is basically going to be a 3-4 nickel. So we will have 3 DL, 3LB 5 DBs most of the time but they won’t line up like lost 3-3-5. That 3rd linebacker is an edge guy.

We aren’t going to stack LBs like in a 3-3-5

Gosh I hope we aren’t “comfortable” with those two. Weeks isn’t SEC material and Penn had an inconsistent year.

Juwan Mitchell from Tennessee just jumped in the portal

43 tackles.

Not insane but not terrible. Looks like a sturdy dependable LB

It’s pretty obvious to me, even if I don’t really see the underlying meaning of the name. Usually pick up on a fake arse name pretty quickly if you’re in the world of recruiting even a little. Then it’s not hard to figure out, if you spend the time to actually look at it.

I just ignore it, knowing what it is. Every once in a while I’ll be like oh that is actually a real guy no one knows about. Not often. It is a little funny when someone starts asking about the no body.

I just read that Antoine Sampah has committed to Campbell University. So he'll be competing at an FCS school against a bunch of 1 and 2 star players.

I don't see anything about Webb committing anywhere, but the LSUOdyssey says he was removed from the program due to medical reasons. Apparently he had a couple of concussions.
Is there anything more to his story?

U need run stoppers in the middle that also run sideline to sideline, otherwise teams will do what the damn Aggies did.

Bad game for Baskerville and Penn.

Obviously pick up a couple guys from the portal if they become available and are interested. Worst case roll with who we have and adjust defensive scheme to personnel.

You still need more than 5 on ur roster

Agreed, ideally you would probably have 9 or more just for depth and special teams

I'm surprised [Langlois] is still here. He hasn't got close to sniffing the field at all really since he has been here.

He played as a true freshman, he was playing as a true sophomore until a knee injury ended his season.

He will be a RS Soph. next year, way too early to write him off IMO.
