LB’s. What’s the plan in the portal

Without knowing anything about who we go after, LB has now eclipsed DB as the biggest need.
Who knows, maybe we wait until after Jan 9.
I mentioned there would be a second wave of transfers.
Might even be some real good ones that enter.

We are very close to being past the point for spring enrollment. Probably have a week.
That’s not a deal killer, but I think it’s important.

There aren’t very many good options right now. Have to think they wait until after Spring unless somebody jumps in here soon. Weeks being an early enrollee is huge. I think we will see a lot of him next year.

FWIW JD5 didnt commit to lsu until March 6th last year, so I think theres some wiggle room with enrolling. Might have been bc JD5 already graduated from ASU

Very possible LSU is comfortable with Penn and Weeks since they played a lot this year. You still need depth. TBH, if I had a criticism with House I don't like how he handles his LBs.
LSU may wait to see what they have then if they don't like it past spring they'll target a few LBs.

It appears they want to run more of a 4-2-5 defense. It seems they are going after DL,DE and defensive backs. Traditional linebackers might be a thing of the past like fullbacks.

I would say that you need more than 5.
I also think we will get more too.

This will be a big week. There may be some players from UGA and TCU that look elsewhere. There’s also the Harbaugh situation at Michigan to continue to keep an eye on. If he leaves, there may be some players open to making a move if they don’t promote for within to maintain stability.
If no LBs hit this week then we are waiting until the Spring window to look for experienced players. That may give us the extra time needed to do some back channel negotiating to get someone to enter.

I really don't understand why LSU has been so horrible the last few years - all the way back to the last couple of years with Les - in recruiting LBs.
Especially now, since if you come in and don't completely suck arse, you're going to play.
