re: Aren't all these Republican doomsdayers just proving our point?

One can agree with this and believe at the same time that the GOP and Democrats are too much the same.
Exactly this. They are not the same. But there’s a lot of Venn diagram overlap that the Dems proudly claim as theirs and it’s not SUPPOSED to be shared by the GOP. They say it’s not but then their actions say otherwise.

Senate Republicans love a good court fight.
I wish they'd use that same energy in tackling our open border, fiscal issues, China, etc
But they won't because they are all beholden to the donor class. That's why they are the same as D's.

Sure, but that's because America is a lot more moderate than what the partisan poles believe. THAT is the issue. The vast majority of Americans are moderate. They don't want super high taxes or tranny lunacy, but they also don't want full abortion regulation and Evangelical social conservatism, either. This means the Reps from these areas are much more likely to be moderate, which presents an opportunity to work together with other moderates (of any party).
I agree. Have an upvote.

Sure, but youre missing scope and scale. Super high taxes/spending, race and tranny lunacy, and an open order are all happening today. A wave of evangelical social conservatism in politics/policy is not.
The problem isn’t that Dems are too much like Republicans in Congress. The problem is republicans are too much like Dems.

It’s possible that one day you’ll be able to present an idea without attempting to denigrate people who see it differently than you do. Today ain’t it. I know you think it makes you look intelligent and sophisticated; it doesn’t. It just makes you look like an arse.

If my choices are to drive the country off the cliff at 100mph with Dems vs. drive the country off the cliff at 75mph with the GOPe, floor it.
That is the only difference I can see between the two ideologies.

The "GOP and Democrats are the same" meme is one of the dumbest thing ever repeated on this board. It's something that only people who shelter themselves and don't ever actually engage with any Leftists would believe.
All they do is slow the leftist agenda from time to time while shouting promises to their constituents at the same time they are whispering deals and concessions across the isle.

Via Congressional act?
Or are these more localized issues?

I imagine over half the country would disagree with this, post-Hobbs.

Trust me, Democrats do not agree with this statement.

They're not "the same," but the overlap on the Venn Diagram is rather substantial.

What is happening right now is what the dems don't want to happen.. It is putting a monkey wrench in their plans.. Take a look at the articles.. saying the republicans are in disarray and are infighting.. The truth is the republicans ARE infighting so the dems don't get their way.. So the dems don't get investigated..

That wasn't an ad hom attack.
This board is an echo chamber. If you want a great example of this recently, just look at the "FTX and Ukraine" stuff. This board became flooded with that stupidity immediately, which led to other outlets to create content based off this board, which then led to MORE threads on here citing the content made by stealing from this board (and others like it) as evidence of the truth.
Echo chambers and information loops are symptoms of the in/out dynamic being used to manipulate people into following the polar beliefs of those promulgating the coordinated content (who also will be the ones in power if this polar-partisan dream ever comes true).

Disagree on the super high taxes
There really isn't any data to suggest that the citizenry is taxed at some insane rate compared to any other time in the last 80 years

Explain with specifics other than budgets/spending

A lot of this is just reflecting the leftist movement of policies of the population. As societies advance, they pretty much never go more conservative and almost always go more liberal. It's just how humans work.

Did a 1.7T Omnibus just pass?
Do they really want border secured?
Did we give a tyrant 100B to defend his border?
Most Democrats are mentally ill, intellectual dishonest, or a combo of both. They believe men can get pregnant. What they think is irrelevant with regards to logic.

Because the policy preferences of the population of America falls within that overlap.
They're just reflecting the will/preferences of their constituents and society at large.

This board is an island in the echo chamber that is the Legacy News Media. Sure, that means this place is itself an echo chamber, but by saying it alone it's as if all other places are virtuous and consist of well balanced and nuanced discussion and this place is some outlier.
Which is complete horseshite.

Yes and Leftists are pissed because it's not a great deal bigger

This is debateable as a traditional GOP view. This is more of the right-populist/Lefty platform of Trump than the GOP
quote:
Did we give a tyrant 100B to defend his border?
Yes, and I'll stay again, the Left is upset we haven't given 2-3x that amount.

This is 100% accurate The idea that every democrat backs the tranny lunacy is absurd Most are against late term abortions also People are not nearly as extreme as extremists would like to believe.
Yet the insane Groomer agenda continues to move forward. I have to assume the majority of Dims are ok with the insanity or the Groomer agenda would stall.

I suppose what is interesting about it is this is a group of self selecting participants in discussion that you might expect to be more balanced since it isn't "organized" or being "controlled" by some broadcasting group or outside influence.
The fact that it is such an echo chamber seems rather odd even though we know LSU fans are for the most part fairly "conservative"
