It sounds like Jay wants an established closer which I think Taylor will fill that role. My best guess at the rotation is Skenes, Hurd, Floyd. Shores, Little and Noot will throw some mid week but I could see Little being huge bullpen piece down the run. Curious to see if Shores can find his way into the weekend rotation this year.

Tanks looked serviceable at 3rd in the fall. Probably a slight upgrade defensively from Berry.
My gut is telling me Merrifield wins the job at 2nd which is a more natural fit for him.
Millazo behind the plate is definitely a defensive upgrade.
Tre is Tre.
It's really going to come down to JT at short.

I can't think of a positive scenario where this happens. Not slighting Shores at all, but if he ends up in the weekend rotation this year something went way wrong for someone.

This is how I see it playing out. Taylor would be a terrific starter option, but with the current depth at pitcher he could be the best option at closer.

We may see a different second baseman and a different catcher in each of the first 4 games.

You're probably right. I'm sure there will be a lot of tinkering early. I wouldn't be shocked to see some shuffling at shortstop too. At minimum, Jay needs to know who he can turn to if JT struggles.

quote:Yes. Last year was a fluke. He was great in 2021.
1. Can Thompson find his glove at SS?
quote:Looks like it was Guidry before injury. Curious to see who they trot out there now.
2. Who is going to win the 2nd base job?
quote:Skenes/Taylor/Floyd/Hurd will all get early looks. Little, Shores, and Noot will be EXCELLENT long relivers.
3. With so many potential front line pitchers, what role does each guy play?
quote:I'd like to see Money in this position. His intensity would be great for this role. Moffett would be my 2nd pick.
4. Will we have a true closer?
quote:It's going to be tough with Neal and Jones
5. Can Millazo hit enough to keep Neal out of the lineup?
quote:Yep. Dugas/Pearson will be fun to watch shake out. Ruddell will be hard to keep off the field.
6. How does the outfield shake out? I'm assuming Pearson if LF, Crews in CF, Kling in RF.
quote:Chill bro lol, but the cities outside of Omaha is the best
7. Where is the best place to stay in Omaha?
ETA: I keep forgetting about Javen Coleman. He was brilliant in 2021. Hopefully he gets back to form after injury.

Crazy to think that Money is going from Friday night starter last year to possibly not even having a defined role this year. I don't know about him as a closer, but time will tell.
I could see Moffett being the closer of the future. He flashed some electric stuff at times this fall, but wasn't very consistent.

This team has potential to be All Time.

I think Moffett will touch triple digits this season, but I think he's a season away from being a relied upon guy out of the pen.

He was kind of feast or famine in the fall. But I agree, he is a year or two from being a go to guy.

quote:His fastball is way too flat and he jerks his head when he throws a fastball. Any amateur can see what's coming from him. He has great potential, I just hope his ferocity can be utilized in the 9th.

Agreed. He would be an ideal closer if he has locked down the zone and can avoid the BBs. The guy can come in for 1-2 IP and throw gas which is tough to beat.

No excuses for the little one this year . May be most talented roster ever. Field the fukin ball you win most days.

It's obvious to all, but word from inside LSU athletics admin is that this is the best LSU team of all time on paper. A LOT more goes into it (health/getting hot at right time/etc). But this should be a very good spring for LSU fans.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is Guidry's injury and when is he expected to be healthy?

Taylor, Skenes, Hurd, and Floyd are 4 pitchers that could each be in the everyday rotation. I think at the end of the year we will see our Pitching staff be a lot fresher because of it too.

If Jordan can learn to throw the ball to first base, he will be fine.
