Where to go for a few day anniversary trip?

This would be for late January/early February. We’re in south Louisiana .. would rather drive maybe 5/6 hours max. Just the two of us — he is a guitar player so music is an interest; I like shopping in quaint places.
Our last child is at school in Oxford so last year we stopped to visit her and then went to Nashville from there. Not opposed to heading in that direction but don’t necessarily need Nashville (what I mean is he doesn’t need to guitar shop again lol). We’d be on to drive more than 5/6 hours if a trip was combined to see her.
Austin/San Antonio or Arkansas would be options for driving but we’ve never been to any of those .. don’t care for huge huge crowds but not totally against. Any other suggestions? Anything we’re missing to consider that we can easily get to from Oxford?

Bed and Breakfast in Fairhope Alabama or stay at the Marriott Grand Hotel down the road from there

quote:If you’re in SE La go to Clarksdale, Mississippi and listen to the Blues. Greenwood, MS is supposed to have some good restaurants; it’s ~ an hour from C’dale. I don’t know of any real nice places to stay there; we stayed at a Hampton Inn in Cleveland, MS.

If you’re in SW LA go to Austin although that may be crowded.

I am pretty consistent with the same recommendation when these questions come up....Chattanooga would be my vote. Maybe the most underrated town in the South IMO
Live music, nearby hiking, rafting, SUP, biking, shopping, local breweries, safe, walkable, solid dining.

Lucia Bleu in Fairhope on the bay is a great option also.

We spent a week in seaside for our honeymoon. 10/10 would recommend anywhere from Grayton to Rosemary.
Eta: May be a little far for the 5/6 hours depending on where you leave.

West North Carolina/North Georgia, bit longer of a drive especially for you flat landers that can’t drive in curves and elevation change.
Look around Highlands, Old Edwards Inn is a good time if you want to make it special. Lots of nice cabins throughout the area. Excellent food options all around the region. Going visit small towns like Dahlonega and Brevard. Waterfalls all over the area especially going up to Franklin.
A lot better than the trashy Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville nightmare.
