Record: 12-1 | Last week: NR.
LSU joins Mizzou and Mississippi State as SEC programs with first-year coaches to crack the Hey Nineteen this month. I didn't expect any of them to break through this season. In beating Arkansas, LSU nabbed its first win over a top-80 KenPom team.
Trae Hannibal came off the bench and broke Arkansas's spirit, scoring 19 points. KJ Williams has also been as advertised, scoring 21.4 points in LSU's last five games.

Good to see this. LSU is gonna crack the top 25 on Monday. Nice that LSU doesn't have a game on Saturday so beating Arkansas is the last thing the voters saw. Can't lose on Saturday and kill top 25 momentum.

Meh. It’s still early. Rankings don’t matter

Neither do a single one of your post, but we still are stuck looking at them.

frick that. Yes they do matter. Helps build momentum and gets LSU exposure. Get out of here with your shite takes.

Meh. They don’t ever matter in the big scheme of things. This is entertainment, not life or death. Meh.

So What matters in the big scheme of things? The only things that are life and death are life and death. What an ignorant take.
It's a barometer for the team. I bet they care. And as mentioned, it's great for exposure

Being in the top 25 matters. Once you get in the top 25 you get a dedicated AP reporter and they start writing recap and stories about your games... meaning more exposure.

I was being a smartass to the guy who said that rankings don’t matter, not sure how you didn’t pick up on that, but then again this is Tigerdroppings

I’ve been saying not to sleep on this team. The roster is better than people think

LSU wasn't receiving any votes in the last polls, so I doubt they crack the top 25 this week. That said, the polls really don't matter for anything other than perception. So I wouldn't be too upset if LSU isn't ranked next week.
The BEST thing that happened last night, besides the win, of course, is that LSU got a big win in front of a good crowd. Hopefully that will encourage more casual basketball fans to continue to come out to the games. I can't count how many times over the past 15 or so years that LSU was building momentum and had a good crowd out for a big game...only to see LSU lose and, in the process lose the crowd for the remainder of the year. In its current state LSU basketball is a bandwagon sport for many fans. If they are winning, the fans will show up. If not, they will quickly stop paying attention. Last night was the first time many LSU fans have watched this team play this year. So it was a great "first impression". While being ranked would be nice to help build momentum, just winning last night is going to be enough to get some of those in attendance to show up for the next home game and pay attention overall. THAT is more important that being ranked right now.

I bet I can guess the two downvotes

There would be considerable gnashing of teeth if playing lackluster

It’s exciting. Forward momentum is good after all the program has been through!
