Why did he miss practices if he was 100%.
Sounds like he meant in the regular season. As opposed to camp.

So much hullabaloo over the 6th best WR on the roster

Who fricking cares. Why isn’t there a daily thread on Marcus Dumervil transferring?

I root for anyone who loves LSU but man when they put you out there and you drop passes and take kickoffs to the face and muff punts….man that’s tough to put on the coaches

It's a little bit QB play.

The comparison has been made between Daniels and Duggan multiple times, so I'll add to that.

Once you subtract Daniels top 2 targets in Nabers and Boutte, the rest of the team got to share 98 yards receiving per game.

Once you subtract Duggans top 2 targets, the rest of the team shared 140 yards receiving per game.

Let me repeat: Bech was #8 at LSU for total receptions and #7 for total receiving yards at LSU this year.

How much production did TCU’s equivalent have this year? I’ll answer: 11 receptions or 140 receiving yards, depending on how you look at it. Bech had 16 receptions for 200 yards.

Would Bech have been more successful at TCU this year with Duggan? I guess that depends - would he have been a starter at TCU?

TCU's top targets are leaving. LSU's top targets are returning.

This is his route to more production. He’s looking to be a starter somewhere and doesn’t have an easy path at LSU. I don’t like it but that’s his decision to make. It’s pretty silly to blame Daniels for Bech’s position on the depth chart, though.

Bech is different from the rest. We'll see if Ibieta takes the mantle next year.

Yea I know

fricking dummies in here talking about Jayden Daniels and scheme and blah, blah, blah…like the 6th best WR on any team should flourish. That’s why they’re 6th, they aren’t good enough.

Where are the “Jack Mashburn needs more touches” threads?

Ibieta and Anderson will probably both be backing up whoever starts in the slot.

how did all those extra yards help in the outcome?

imagine that, the guy that put up more points and fewer turnovers won the game.

Bech has a tweener body type. Not a complete tightend and doesn't have the size or speed to be a major threat on the outside. He's a solid slot/possession type receiver. Once Boutte moved to the slot, he lost a lot of playing time.

He was fun to watch in '21 because he brought a lot of energy. I wish him all the best.

He catches punts with his face. That tends to have a negative impact on playing time. For him to insinuate that he somehow didn’t get a fair shake is pathetic & immature.

i asked for a link, somebody did post one, so I read through it. And I agree with what these guys said in that thread.

He would be grossly inferior at TE than what we had.

That’s bullshite. Mason Taylor is a good receiving TE, but isn’t a good blocker either. Bech would have at least been a better option than Kole Taylor or Storz. Our TE room was really bad beyond Taylor.

That said, even if he had bulked up and moved, I think Bech probably would be passed up by at least one of our incoming TEs. The issues there are being corrected.

Jack Bench was a shitty teammate. Put his team behind against Tennessee then quit.

Daniels was third in the SEC in completions. This whole talking point that all he does is run is wrong. Don’t get me wrong he has issues, but it isn’t that all he does is run.

Why have a legitimate discussion when you can spew bullshite hyperbole instead?

Was curious if you were right or just making stuff up based on your feelings. LSU's top 5 WRs had 187 receptions this year. TCU's top 5 WRs had 162. Plus, Dugan is headed to the draft and the likely starter Morris (will be a 4th year sophomore) had a 5.6 ypa average this year.

Why let facts get in the way of shitty agendas and opinions?

Eh, at some point you have to look at the reality of his frame.

Bech was listed at 6’2” 215 lb.
Mason Taylor 6’5” 245 lb.
Kole Taylor 6’7” 250 lb.
Nick Storz 6’6” 267 lb.

Bech is a good blocking WR but playing him at TE is a square peg in a round hole. We worked around it last year by moving him around a lot, putting him at H-back, in the slot, etc. but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a true prototypical TE.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call him grossly inferior to Mason Taylor. He certainly could have contributed at TE this year. But I don’t think he fits the mold of what Kelly and Denbrock are looking for at that position, at all. I agree that he likely would have been passed up in the long run - which puts us back to square one.

I also think forcing him to add 15-20 lbs and play TE is a pretty big disservice to Bech. Particularly if we assume he aspires to play in the NFL. There are some 6’2” TEs in the NFL but they are by far the exception, not the norm. Now.. if Bech wanted to play TE instead of WR that’s a different story. But given his frame, I tend to doubt it.
