I'm surprised they didn't make Santa gay or trans.

There is actually, from a Christian perspective, a lot of credence to not telling your kids Santa is real.
1)it’s a lie, even if a well meaning one.
2) it devalues God, as you are teaching them that there is another omnipotent being that can do magical things that they should ask for things and be good for.
3) “I would never lie to you” isn’t really something a discerning child will accept once they realize it.
Now…if you aren’t a Christian whatever I guess.

These behaviors are the direct result of loveless childhoods. They are so jealous of people having joy that they are war to destroy it.

We don’t teach Santa is real, either, but they still enjoy the Santa-related holiday stuff.

In my world with no social media, none of this is happening. Wouldn’t have know without clicking your thread and don’t care.
Stop letting them control your emotions.

actually ok with destroying the materialistic and tree worshiping part of the current American Christmas.
Do you have any clue of the origins of gifts and the tree and what it represents? Christmas Tree goes back to the pagans during yuletide who would decorate trees to symbolize light returning from darkness and it represented everlasting life and fertility. It morphed into a Christmas tradition after Christianity took over and represents the rebirth of Christ and new life with the triangular shape representing the holy trinity.
The origins of gift giving stemmed from a pagan tradition largely associated with a famed 4th century saint Nikolaus of Myra who was known for generous gift giving. It later morphed into Christianity and Christmas as representing the gifts of the Magi given to Jesus.
Amazes me how many people participate in these traditions while having no idea why we do it. No it shouldn’t be destroyed. It should be better taught and understood

Did children believe in the Santa Claus character at the time ... or not?
While the magical character of Santa is obviously not real, it is based on a real person Nikolaus of Myra, a 4th century saint known for gift giving. It’s just a fun representation of the spirit of gift giving that’s catered to children
People need to better understand our holidays and just how far back these traditions go and how much paganism influenced modern Christian traditions. It’s fascinating history and the fact we still do pagan religious traditions without really even knowing we are doing it

Were these parents traumatized when they found out?
Possible. That's why they're such fricking pussies.
Kids with any reasoning ability know the Santa bit is fake by age 10. I think it's a great life lesson, learning to spot when they're being played.
They need lessons like that.
Maybe the ones who couldn't figure it out on their own became liberal progressives.

Our modern notion of “Santa Claus“ did not begin to take shape until the 19th century.
Washington Irving created him in 1809 in a work of short fiction, though not in exactly his modern form. The modern form arose in an 1823 poem by Clement Clarke Moore.

Is this really common or is it one of those things where 3 or 4 people say something, and we all act like it’s a trend. There have always been spoilsports like this. This is nothing new.

$20 says these same people would okay a Christmas-themed Drag Show for eight year olds.
