Discussing NOLA restaurants last night someone mentioned Chophouse on Magazine. consensus seemed to be that it's third tier, where you might go if can't get in anywhere else.
I haven't been there in years so couldn't really comment, but trust the thoughts and opinions of you strangers. Any input or recommendation?

Definite 2nd or 3rd tier steakhouse. I never even think about it

A few years back had a fantastic dinner.
Sea bass - incredible, huge piece, buttery and excellent flavor
Crab bisque- loaded with lump, velvety smooth, delicious
Porkbelly app- crisp, juicy, tender, seasoned perfectly
Mushroom app - rich, great depth of flavor
Went back a year later and ordered all the same things. Less than average on every dish.

I'm surprised there are 3 tiers of steakhouses in this city.

Best steakhouse in Nola. Haven't been to Doris though. Chophouse is the classic old school steakhouse. Charred outside and medium rare inside perfection. My standing order is the bisque, wedge salad, and the bone-in Ribeye cooked medium rare. My wine and bourbon selections varies every time I go.

Owned by the guy from “California Dreaming”. I’ve had one of the best overall meals of my life here (food combined with piano entertainment) combined with my last visit being really bad.

I would be interested in what would be ahead of Chophouse? It's my current top rated.

Chophouse is number 2 in the city for me after Doris.

Chop House is good. I like their large crab appetizer, but you need at least six people to conquer it. Steak is good, and good offering of sides. Service is top notch.

The thick cut bacon is hard to pass up

I have some high maintenance snobby relatives that love it.

Mr. John’s is ahead of Chophouse. In fact, it’s ahead of any other steakhouses in the state.
