I am purchasing a classic car and will need to ship it about 600 miles.

Never have had a car shipped so was curious what I can expect to pay and if anyone here has any recommendations or tips.

$1200 is what I last paid to ship two cars 300 miles. There's a guy in the DeRidder area who hauls from Dallas to DeRidder so he only had to go fifty miles out of his way to load up the cars.

I think I paid $750 for an enclosed trailer from Dallas to Houston. That was a few years ago.

Find a broker and let him locate and work the deal with someone. That’s the easy way to handle it unless you know someone you trust.

nothing wrong with non-enclosed if weather isn't an issue and the cars are "drivers" rather than "trailer queens."

sign up and request a quote from one of the many thousands of brokers online if you want a taste of what the eternal damnation of hell is like

From where to where? (Proximity to interstates help)
Is it drivable?
Enclosed or not?
If convertible always go on top if it’s multi-car.
Are they able to get it to your house or just nearby? (Tree limbs, power lines, tight turns, etc)

I have used TRU Auto Transport (she is a broker though)

Google car shippers - there are broker websites / put destination and timing preference....you'll start getting calls and emails immediatley - you can get them bidding against one another - shouldn't cost more than 600

have done it 3 times

Car shipping is the ultimate crapshoot.

You are at their mercy and they generally don't give a frick about you or your car.

Good luck. I've done it a few times. Last experience was pretty good. Others not so much.

Just go ahead and triple whatever time estimate they give you. I had a shipper take about 4 hours to get from baton rouge to nola.

I had a car shipped from California to Florida about 10 years ago. It would not have been more than 2500. Car came fine. Was on an outdoor truck. It did get a rear light removed/lost somewhere during the trip but they had one ready to go for me when it got here.

Some jobs, typically urgent ones, pay as much as $2 per mile, but they are not common. This is balanced by loads with a more typical minimum of $1 to $1.25 per mile.

my niece had a car shipped from louisiana to oregan, i cant remember who we used but there are companies that this is all they do. we paid a car hauler $1200 to ship it there

they give you a day they will show up to get it and a day its supposed to arrive but its a crap shoot if you get good or bad service. some companies take care of your shite and some treat it like they are hauling scrap metal so make sure you get reviews from past customers and with a classic car, i wouldnt be sleeping well doing that.

honestly, if its only 600 miles, you, or a relative you trust, should go there and drive it home yourself
