Wife keeps talking about a few days in Scottsdale

What is there to do? Normally we take our camper to state parks, but this would be 3 or 4 days and a flight.
Any canyons, historical sights?
Day drinking?
Open to all suggestions

I was there two weeks ago on a business trip. The weather was great as it normally is this time of year. It’s in the high desert with mountains scattered around. There are abundant hiking trails, nice golf courses, old town Scottsdale and great outdoor scenery. I stayed at the JW Marriott at Camelback Mountain and I think you could make a great vacation by just staying at one of the many really nice resorts there and doing what is offered at the resort.

I love the Royal Palms there. Right next to the old town part for dining, camelback is worth hiking up. Day trip to Sedona.
The resort has a hellova nice spa, and one of the coolest bars. Plenty of sitting areas around fire pits at the resort to sit and enjoy evenings with a few drinks.
Best bleu cheese olive martinis ever made.

I honestly really wasn't looking for a resort, just a "nicer" hotel with a decent bar.
The reviews are sketch at best of hotels that aren't actual resorts

That’s an amazing resort. I still miss making that hike behind it every morning with my coffee. So much eye candy, too

The scenery is incredible there. I didn’t get to use the heated pool or hot tub but the eye candy sure did. The main bar area is awesome

I stayed at the Marriott in Old Town. Obviously it’s in the historic Old Town section but only a few blocks away from the Entertainment District with a concentration of bars, sports bars and restaurants.
Also, if you don’t know already in Old Town and the Entertainment District it’s common to see people driven around in golf carts by a taxi service. So that’s an option rather than walking or driving in Scottsdale.

Was there last week for a conference at the Fairmont Princess Resort. Resort was great, weather sucked. Was hoping to escape the winter weather and it was in the high 40s/low 50s and rainy the entire time.
As for the area there is a ton to do. Lots of good outdoorsy activities and good hiking. Good restaurant scene and nightlife. Unreal area for good golf. Lots of nice resorts with good pools/spas. Have enjoyed my couple trips to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Cave Creek is a gem- was just up there last night watching the Packer game at The Buffalo Chip.
Plenty of shopping, bars and dining in Old Town Scottsdale. For day-drinking I highly recommend the Coach House, the Rusty Spur and the Old Town Tavern, all within minutes of each other. The last two will have live music on weekends and all three are very popular with winter visitors. Walking along the Greenbelt in OT is great people-watching and of course there is tons of golf.
Up in North Scottsdale where us beautiful people live you have great golf, hiking and of course Cave Creek further north. Lots of shops, dining and dive bars with live music up in CC (my favorites are Harold's Cave Creek Corral, the Buffalo Chip, The Hideaway & The Roadhouse). For really good food with great scenery I would recommend Raven's View in Desert Mountain. One of my favorites with a pretty good wine selection.

It is worth it. Rooms are so damn unique. Valet is great. Handy to everything. If you are going to have an evening of down time, you can just completely unwind out by one of their fire pits and sipping on wine.

Im also staying gat the JW Marriot Camelback for work, never been. I was thinking at the end bringing my wife, renting a car and then doing 2 days at Sedona for the weekend. Would my time be better spent just staying at the JW in Scottsdale? Seems like the reviews of JW and Camelback are pretty good.

I highly recommend Sedona too. You might want to keep your plans flexible though. See what you think about the JW then decide.

Did she say what is peaking her interests about Scottsdale? I could brag on the golf but if she is talking about it I would start with her interests for sure.
