I get what you’re saying but I’m of the opposite opinion.
Let them say and do whatever they want so the PT can be containment for the rest of the site.
Those types will never adjust their viewpoints and also never add any actual value.

To be fair I only do so when replying to a political thread so maybe only a tiny bit of hypocrisy

We literally have a poster on that board that posts random YouTube videos as evidence of his personal feelings.
I remember the posters hoping HoD would fail because of it being “woke”. That board has definitely become political at times

Not really.
Politics came up in the Jack Ryan thread because politics was a motivating factor in why the storyline failed. Politics comes up in non-political threads all the time, and pretty organically. It’s not some apolitical world but for some crazies injecting politics into everything. Our government is obviously political, entertainment is political, the media is political, tech is political, unfortunately sports and church are increasingly political.
Not to mention news stories or things that impact real people that aren’t partisan politics. Like the VA school board dude being arrested. Or the push in schools for certain gender/sexuality topics. Are those inherently political? Yes. Are they things a lot of parents in our region/this board are going to think about/deal with/etc. and do so without much regard for Trump/Biden/etc? Also yes.
It’s just impossible to segregate the biggest stories of our time from politics (Ukraine, COVID, Twitter, BLM riots, Jan 6, terrorism, mass shootings). But when all of those are thrown to a board specifically and exclusively about politics, it eliminates the ability to talk about those subjects on a non or semi-political basis, which isn’t helpful either.

As mentioned by me earlier, if they are gonna crack down on political topics on non-political boards, I still think there should be enough nuance to allow certain topics to stand that have a tangential connection to politics, but are not solely political.
When it becomes just pointless name-calling because everyone has gotten bored with the topic and it’s threatening to become Poliboard-lite, then something more drastic should probably be done.
But a little nuance seems reasonable.
