Do you believe an entertainment venue like Kenny’s Key West could thrive again in Metry?

In the late 1990’s/early 2000’s, the “who is who” of Metairie could be found at a special place in Fat City that was 100% focused on jumping music, slick deejays, fog machines and laser rays.

Could Metairie support another Super Night Club like Kenny’s Key West?

If so, where would be the ideal location?

You're a decade +/- late for Fat City's high water mark. Coke was on the way out in 99-00 and you couldn't possibly have the proper Fat City experience without it.

I got slick my hair back with gel and splash a bottle of polo in for the ladies. Finish off with the gold chain.

Coincidentally, cash money was taking over for the 99 and the 2000

No. We need to keep our heritage of dirty neighborhood bars.

We thrive on places like Gennaros, mamas place, the bay, jiggers, and lamplighter.

Keep the hair gel and dubstep in Orleans parish.

I agree with this, but for every hair gel and dubstep place in Orleans Parish, there are also 10 dirty neighborhood bars. Looking forward to the 12 dives of Christmas bar crawl on Saturday. Starts at Rendezvous and ends at Snake & Jake's.

Cynthia Lee Sheng spent the past 15 or so years trying to remove the sleezy stigma of that area. Notice the improvements they made to Severn and sidewalks, sleezy bars have been chased out, and I believe there are a few new buildings. They still have a long way to go but are on a path. No way that comes back.

Oh completely agree. The neighborhood bars uptown and mid city are great. Some of my favorites in the world.

Ole school club kid checking in. Doubt it would make it now. Techno has pretty much died besides the techno festival scene. Younger kids listen to rap, which would suck to roll to. Rap brings in the wrong crowd . I don’t think they have the legit X anymore either. People would be dying of fentanyl nightly. We kicked it in clubs from Panama City to Texas. Great times .

I'd have to imagine that a big reason for the downfall was the number of crummy apartment complexes that were thrown up throughout Fat City.

Correct. But it has been a huge priority of hers to clean that area up.

It’s def cleaner now than in the past but still a long way to go.

Man, I was trying to remember the name of that place the other weekend and it just wouldn’t come to me. I remembered The Chronic but absolutely couldn’t remember Kenny’s.

Ok, now I can sleep again.
