You can make an argument that that team is a testament to the absolutely insane hyper focus of Nick Saban
I've always said Saban deserves all the credit in the world for being the one and only coach to not let a fricking global pandemic affect his team. But to claim the 20 Bama team is better than 19 LSU is complete idiocy.

Figures that the gumps would be #1 all time during a BS covid year. Good for them. Something they can point to down the road if things don't always go their way.

Burrow and 7 top 5 teams beat.enough said.

Such BS! 2020 was an asterisk season with any player without a chance at a NC opting out.

We beat the shite out of that same Bama team the year before with Tua and 3 more first rounders.
That’s bullshite

We beat them by 5
But I would argue Bama 2018 > Bama 2019 > Bama 2020

14 points were on the DC, including a trash td at the end
ETA: at the end of both halves

I think it’s safe to say, 2020 Bama was the best team that nobody watched. CFB was just poor all around that year.

First time I heard this stat: LSU beat Clemson, OU, Bama, FL, UGA that season. Those teams had a combined record of 60-4 in games in which they did not play LSU
Greeny didn't say it, but that record was also 59-3 is you remove the FL-UGA game

We had 2 busted plays , those still count however

At the end of the first half, LSU scored, Bama threw a pick (does the DC get credit for that?) and scored again, so what exactly are you talking about?

Quick side by side comparison of teams played and how they were ranked at the time
LSU ALA
#3 Clemson vs #3 Ohio State
#3 Alabama vs #3 Georgia
#4 Oklahoma vs #4 Notre Dame
#4 Georgia vs #7 Florida
#7 Florida vs #13 Texas A&M
#9 Auburn vs #22 Auburn
#9 Texas vs YEAH WE HAD MORE AND HIGHER QUALITY OPPONENTS
Alabama had NO road games vs ranked opponents. We played Texas and Alabama on the road.
Until someone plays more top ten teams and goes what, 16-0 or 17-0 with expansion, we will simply have played the most difficult schedule ever.

Then ESPN got it wrong by one.

There’s not doubt that it was the best team ever. The problem is that O’s negligence that led to the disaster the next 2 years made the 2019 team look like a one hit wonder to the media as opposed to the product of a phenomenal, established program

Haha...I think this guy said the same thing right after Bama won it all in 2020. At least he is consistent.
Look, Bama 2020 did have a phenomenal offense and a great team, but 2019 LSU beat 7 of the final top 25 teams. Bama beat just 6 winning teams all season in 2020.
Bama didn't play 1 top 10 scoring D in 2020. LSU beat the #1 scoring D (UGA) and put up 25 points more than they allowed per game. Clemson also had the #1 scoring D (until playing LSU in the NC), but ended up #3 and gave up 29 more than they gave up per game. LSU faced 3 of the final top 8 scoring defenses and scored 121 points on them combined (40 ppg).
LSU absolutely bulldozed everyone in the post-season (including UGA in their backyard in the SECCG) while Bama had to hold on to beat an 8-4 UF team 52-46. And then what LSU did to OU, and then to defending champ Clemson on a 29-game winning streak was astonishing. It ends any and all arugments. That's why so many outsiders refer to the 2019 LSU team as the goat. Toward the back part of the season, they were a machine that could not be stopped.

There has been no peer to the 2019 LSU Tiger football team.

Don’t even bother with this fig. He is the same person who makes up the SP ranking in which he plays god by quantifying luck based on his standards, he also had LSU 3 in the final 2019 rankings behind bama ( who’s arse they beat score made it look close never was ) and Ohio st. I haven’t and will never open or read an article by that dork who has never played a sport in his life. Wish I spit in his face. And everyone knows the covid year doesn’t count for anything.

1000%, 2020 Alabama is in that tier 2 of all time teams, think a prime Tebow Florida or title winning Clemson team. The debate is only 2019 LSU with 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, and 1995 Nebraska. There are no other teams in that conversation. You can literally search it on any search engine and it’s usually” 2001 Miami vs 2019 LSU” in any form and fashion as it’s hits. This is simply ESPN trying to spark debates and garner clicks. If they simply put 2019 LSU at 1, the article gets almost no traffic. We’ve already known this as a consensus. If you want further nonsense for clicks, check out their NBA 75 rankings…it’s a joke. The writer has no self-respect and is simply serving his master for clicks.

anyone outside of a Bama homer, that puts 2020 Bama over 2019 LSU should not be taken seriously on any football topic...
