Why does everyone act like Army cs Navy is a good game, one of the best rivalries, or really matters in the CFB landscape?

Seems to be the same crowd that thinks Notre dame is a top 5 program and that beating Stanford is an accomplishment.

Is it nostalgia?

Why is it not a good game? It’s usually very close. There’s often lots of emotion and drama.

Literally no one says this game has national title implications.

Why do you watch any college football? The level of all of it is much worse than NFL.

I find it enjoyable. It's football between our armed forces.

Who acts like this?

Its more about the tradition and pageantry of the game than any of that (although its obviously one of the most storied rivalries in college football). Since 2000, there might have been one game where both teams had winning records going in, and the game is of zero consequence to anything outside of (maybe) the Commander In Chief's Trophy.

It's a very unconventional rivalry compared to pretty much everyone else. Most service academy students don't have any pre-detemined loyalty before they actually get on campus.

Pageantry is an integral part in CFB. Same reason the Bayou Classic has been on national TV because of the bands. Also even if you didn't attend the academies, a ton of people in every state in the country are military or former military or is close with someone who is, so there's real rooting interest even if they're not in the geographical era the campuses reside in, it's not really like any other fandom in the sport where it's often tied to geography.

This might be a great rivalry, but this is the worst combined offensive performance I have seen in a college football game in decades.

Traditional run-based football, crowd is always popping, and everyone we watch is going to be an officer in the United States military so support for our future service members too.

You’re like the only college football fan who thinks this way. It’s a rivalry forged from mutual respect for your rival and symbolizes the ethos of those schools.
