Who here has had one? What did you experience/remember? What circumstances brought it on? Has it changed you?

Last year my SIL died from Covid, she was early 40s, since then I’ve really been into the topic, watching documentaries, you tube videos… as much as I can find. Truly fascinating and I can say it has changed my life

I went from agnostic most all my life to now a firm believer in the afterlife and that we move on after we die to a higher dimension of total unconditional love and our purpose here is to learn to love

If your interested you should watch Life After Life by the godfather of the NDE research, Raymond Moody.

Also there is a 3 part series on YouTube, this is the best of the 3 but all are amazing

I'm not much into these but this one had my attention. Dead for 2hrs in a hospital so it was well documented.

Youtube - Dead for 2 Hrs Its from Life Site News' John Henry Westen so it is a good interview.

I was once near a fire when someone poured gasoline on it and it flared up.

That shite about things slowing down and your life flashing before your eyes.

That shite really happens.

I was in a head on collision several years ago. The other driver swerved into me and the only thing that went through my mind was in that insanely brief moment was “frick. This is it.” I walked away thanks to the modern safety features in vehicles. But for less than a split second, I ‘knew’ I was gone. Had that accident happened 20 years before, I don’t think I’d have survived. I spent a lot of time watching crash test videos afterwards and thankfully my truck crumpled exactly like it was supposed to. I watched other manufacturers crash videos and I’d probably have at least lost a leg or had a major head injury if I had another make truck. I made it out with minor injuries but I’ve spent some time pondering how my life would have a changed by the slimmest change in the variables of that wreck.

A good friend of mine died in high school, which caused me to read a lot of NDE books. They are very interesting and reaffirmed my faith in an afterlife.

However, there are many doctors who claim that NDEs are caused from the drugs administered to those who are dying and / or from the brain activity of someone dying (ie, hallucinations caused by the beginning stages of brain death).

Also, not everyone has them, which raises questions because you would think it is universal. I know someone who dropped dead doing yard work. His neighbor was a doctor and was able to revive him after a few minutes. He did not experience anything.

It is like everything else, depends on what you want to believe.

This is also a fascination of mine, and I’ve had several patients who have confided their NDE’s to me.

They all began with being suddenly outside of their bodies and pain free. Then a dark tunnel then the light. Two saw and spoke with Jesus. Changed their lives and they NO LONGER fear death.

I’m a believer 100%.

Apple podcast 100 NDE’s

There are more podcast channels of NDE if you search.

I’ve had a few -

Sport climbing, tried forever to unstick a 5 cam, darkness fell, no lights, rappel down in complete darkness trusting knots tied blindly.

Parachute on my first solo jump had a line twist that I almost had to cut away and pull reserve.

A couple of slides (small avalanches) while snowboarding that I rode out of.

Man, when I look at it now maybe I’ve used a few lives of my nine.

Good.

Wouldn’t want to waste any.

I've read a couple of books about the subject. What amazes me and makes me a believer are the children. The things these 4 and 5 years olds described couldn't possibly be made up!

I read it as NOE, like New Orleans East, so it made sense.

Dropping off a friend at the airport in the middle lane. Got his bag out of hatchback and said goodbye, then took small step backwards without looking while facing terminal. Rental car bus breezed by me probably less than 4” away from back of my head at 25+ mph clip .
Slightly bigger backwards step and I would have been a very grisly hood ornament

If you want a fascinating read about this subject, try "Proof of Heaven" by Dr. Eben Alexander.

He had an NDE and for a host of medical reasons should not have any memory of what happened to him.

Caution: he is not a writer, so it can be a tough read at times, but it's one of the best books on the subject from a first-person perspective.

Was he like blonde hair/blue eyes American Jesus, or like Jewish looking Jesus?

Not being an a-hole here (though it comes.so naturally to me). We grow up with this image of Jesus in our own image, whereas in reality he would have looked different. One would think if it were a hallucination/dream state kind of thing, they would see him in the unrealistic but traiditional image we have of Jesus. Whereas if you meet the real hombre, he’d likely have a more middle-Eatern Jewish look to him.

Agreed. I find it similar to people seeing numbers/objects everywhere that were significant to a loved one who passed. These numbers/things were always there, you are now just adding enough value to them to make you notice them.

It reminds me of the saying “if you think it, you will say it, if you say it, you will do it”. If you want to believe something is real, the more you dig into it, the more likely you are to convince yourself.

There are a lot of chemical hormones popping off in the brain in traumatic incidents, especially when drugs are involved.

I read this book several years ago. Great read.

He is a neuro surgeon and described NDE as a medical phenomenon until it happened to him.
