Went in '09. As others noted it was miserable weather. To add insult to injury, an osprey pooped on me - picked me out of 50K targets including Les and JoePa.
My rec would be to forego the theme parks and go east to see a rocket launch (if happening) or relax at Sebastian Inlet or go west to Pass-a-Grille Beach. All are readily accessible from Orlando.

LSU has a huge Alumni group led by Paul West. They had a lot of pre-game parties last time we played in the Citrus bowl. Here is their website. They also have a Facebook page

We had a lot of fun at the Citrus bowl last time. It is a decent stadium and we made it a vacation and went to Universal before the game. I would highly advise that if you do that, wait until after the game. The parks were super crowded the week before. Everyone goes home the week after and the parks are not as crowded.

I was there too and agree, worst field conditions I’ve ever watched football played on.
Disney and Universal being there is nice if you’re traveling with family. Spending NYE at Epcot was a blast.

Any recommendations on best mode of transportation between Disney and Camping World to maximize time back at Disney parks?
I had a rental car so I drove, it was easy interstate travel from the Disney area to Camping World. We left our hotel about 3 hours before game time to help beat the traffic. Uber to the game should be ok, but I always worry about Uber after large crowd events especially since you may have to walk a distance away from the stadium to catch an Uber ride due to the traffice flow.

The stadium itself is boring
Good thing most of us go to football games to watch football and not stadiums

We went to the Louisville game and the horrible NotreDame game. It's a small stadium almost in the middle of a neighborhood. I guess it's close to the Hood. But I never felt in danger. We stayed about 1 mile away and literally walked to the game both times. It's not a rich neighborhood, but not the hood at all.
From what I saw... there wasn't a whole lot of parking, but then again I didn't see the other side of the stadium.
Still debating going but will probably end up going. FWIW I absolutely HATE downtown Orlando. It looks like a bomb went off with all the multi year construction going on. And then on top of it... about every shop is closed for business due to probably not being able to endure no customers due to the construction. It's like a hellscape.

They have put in new turf since that Penn State game

The stadium is in the middle of nowhere. I remember looking for sports bars, etc. and there is nothing nearby. Literally tailgate at your car or enter stadium.

Only game I’ve ever seen a punted ball drop and stick to the ground. No joke.

Went to the ND shite show! Was cold and rainy. Ended miserably!! Hung with a few tigers in the parking lots, but wasn't a great venue. I would still go if I could just to support the P&G

There; cold, wet, miserable on a cow field and is nothing around that stadium but residence and industrial type stuff. Horrible ending to Penn State game as recall they sat on the ball and we could not get a play off and a no call? Was Miles/Crowton offense
There was a nice bar near the central bus barn which was kinda strange!
But no worries will be there on the 2nd;

Stay around Disney....will be tons of LSU fans. Don't necessarily need to stay at a Disney resort, but I think the team last time stayed at Gaylords....
Easy drive to Disney Springs which is great for night life, food, excitment...but will be packed. It is like a modern clean French Quarter.
Take a day to go to Epcot, Universal, Animal Kingdom...
I would try to tail gate....arrive a few hours early to enjoy the game.
The pre-game is away from the stadium! :)

I believe it. Trindon Holliday tried to cut on a return and literally a giant chunk of the field came out from under him. It’s a wonder there were no serious injuries as I recall

Went for the Notre Dame game and the weather was wet and cold. May short advice, is just enjoy the normal Orlando activities such as theme parks and don't worry about staying close to stadium or trying to do any pre-post game activities near the stadium. Also had same experience of people taking money to park us in lots, land and driveways they did not have authority to use. Hope the Tigers have better luck there with Purdue.

Stay in Winter Park. The Alfond Inn is nice.

You are right, was there too with another couple. Our women went back to the hotel in the 2nd Quarter. Stayed, but it was definitely the worst conditions I ever experienced in a college football game anywhere.

If the weather is good it can be a great trip. We saw Paul McCartney there Memorial day weekend and had a blast. Easy 20 minute drive from hotel to church st. Free parking bcuz we ate at one of the restaurants on Church. Ten minute Uber ride to stadium. Fantastic show. Very easy in and out. Very few concession lines and there were 55K people. There was also a mls soccer game that night with 15-20k people. Game finished b4 the concert so no issues there at all. Got out of the stadium fine. 15 minute walk back to car. Maybe half a mile to interstate. Zipped right out of there in no time and were back at hotel in about 20 minutes. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
