Nuss showed that he should have been the guy all along - the Auburn, UF, and Bama games are probably much less close and we probably beat aTm.
Did he? The southern game would have been even more of a blowout if he hadn’t played.
I also didn’t realize he played defense and thus would have shut down Achane.

You’ve lost your mind

Wasting your time. These guys like JD for a specific reason, and it ain't his passing ability that's for sure. They aren't going to be objective. Some even try to compare him to JB. It is what it is.

JD doesn’t have the arm talent that Nuss has for sure. But to just completely discount his legs and rushing stats is asinine.
So whenever he has a hurt ankle and his running ability takes a slide, you’re starting an average passer who can’t run at 100%. Sounds like a great recipe for success?

Did you have fun this year?
Sure, but I really could care less about LSU being 8-4 and fun next year, just to have exciting games and go into 2024 with limited to no experience at the QB position.

Were you happy that we won the West?
Feel better than you did about where we could be than a year ago?
Sure, again its nice, but did we make ourselves closer to a real contender this season? Will it do that next season?

We are one bad year away from being where we were 365 days ago and having around 40 scholarship players.
I hope you never supported Orgeron b/c he the sole reason we're in this boat.
I hated from the start as he's a POS human being and overrated as hell. When you want to build a championship team, you do it right. You don't do it simply by running out a "fun to watch" team or one that will win an extra couple of games with no development moving forward.

The passing game sets up the running game, see 2019 team, And JD is just a better version of Russell Shepherd, which is why even Les Myles saw. Let Nuss play 2 quarters in Citrus Bowl, then judge.

Daniels had a better season than Burrow did in 2018.
Burrow was a complete qb with a killer instinct for winning, JD is like a deer in the headlights, good athletic ability, scared of himself and probably not the mindset to go any further than where he's at right now

The problem with your argument is you assume that this isn't being done for development.
What goes does a year of "development" do if it leads for that player to transfer out? A bad year will do that.

If we ran that type of offense, I'd agree. I want us to run that type of offense. We do not.
Kelly/Denbrock want a run-first offense that sets up the pass. They want to do it primarily out of zone rushing concepts without much creativity. No matter who is the QB, this will be the basis of our offense.
*ETA: it's still largely irrelevant b/c of our lack of RB talent and IOL issues.

Stop. If he starts next year we will have the same exact season. He’s reached his peak
Posted on 12/5/22 at 10:32 am to SlowFlowPro
That was because they knew JD isn't a good passer. If they have a real QB, then that better change. If it doesn't, bk will never win a championship.

People still think Matt Flynn was better than JR
I don't think that. But I would point out that we never scored less than 27 pts in regulation with Matt as a starter. Neither JR, Joe, Tebow can make that claim.
And JR had nightmarish games vs UF three years in a row.

JD's legs also basically created our running game.
This. We did not have a running back to support the running game. Lack of depth on OL line also contributed to this issue. We would have been sunk without a mobile QB.

No this is always how Kelly and Denbrock have operated

Look at Kelly's history at ND and show me when that ever happened

I don't disagree, unless he can build a UGA-level defense

Yea, a mobile QB is a good idea if your line is terrible but if we fortify the OLine and it improves then you really need to go with someone who can stretch the field, thus opening running lanes for your RB’s. Something that’s been a problem all year because frankly no teams respected JD throwing the ball.

And yet as teams got film, even arky and a&m shut him down.

JD is definitely better at getting sacked,
40 times better.
BTW with two more passing TDs he will crack the top 10 passing TDs per season in LSU history. Admittedly that metric is a bit skewed due to LSU's lack of passing in the most recent era of pass-happy football.
In terms of TDs responsible for, JD's season is second only to the GOAY Joey B in LSU history.
quote:
And what sucks is JD actually has a really good arm,
Yep, he does. Doesn't pull the trigger at the right time. Almost like a delay is happening. Sees the route and reciever, time to let it go, tick tick tick, lets it fly and it is underthrown but really was thrown late.
quote:
He's basically Brandon Harris
Not even close and that is a lazy comparison. JD is completing nearly 68.5% of his passes. Harris couldn't complete a swing pass half the time.
While JD is far from perfect and Nuss deserves the opportunity to try to get the starting job from JD (as does any QB on the team), JD is only a good (no one is a great QB if they can't open up the deep passing game, also a QB doesn't suck with a 68.5% completion rate and 16 passing TDs to 3 Ints) QB, Nuss probably will be that as well (even though I give the Nuss Bussers crap a lot). The whole Nuss is so much better than JD narrative does not engender support for our new Nussiah.
Time will tell where this all goes. Whoever is QB in the bowl game, that's the guy I want to light it up. Whoever starts next season is the QB I am pulling for to have a fantastic season.
