Definition of Insanity

Is not doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
It’s, the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness
I don’t know why it bothers me when people explicitly state the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again…..
If that is true we’re all insane thus there is no insanity, as that would be the norm.

Nope. Insanity is not a medical/psychological term. It is a legal term. Means someone is not able to be held responsible for their crimes because they didn’t know right from wrong or were not in control of themselves.
Mental illness is a medical term including a group of conditions that affect a persons mental status and ability to function in daily life.

This stupid old cliche adage has never been true, and i wish people would stop saying it.. ‘Doing something over and over again and expecting a different result’ is an EXAMPLE of insanity, NOT the definition of insanity .
