Who is ready for the next jab?
Why would someone who wants to get high on fentanyl take a vaccine for it?
You can’t catch fentanyl like a cold. If you don’t want to die from fentanyl just don’t take fentanyl.

Texas-based researchers have developed a vaccine that blocks the euphoric effects of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid that is increasingly involved in opioid overdose deaths in the United States.

In studies in male and female mice, the vaccine generated significant and long-lasting levels of anti-fentanyl antibodies that were highly effective at reducing the antinociceptive, behavioral, and physiological effects of the drug. The vaccine prevents fentanyl from entering the brain. "Thus, the individual will not feel the euphoric effects and can 'get back on the wagon' to sobriety," lead investigator Colin Haile, MD, PhD, with University of Houston in Texas and founding member of the UH Drug Discovery Institute, said in a news release. The study was published online October 26 in the journal Pharmaceutics. "The anti-fentanyl antibodies were specific to fentanyl and a fentanyl derivative and did not cross-react with other opioids, such as morphine. That means a vaccinated person would still be able to be treated for pain relief with other opioids," said Haile. The vaccine did not cause any adverse effects in the immunized mice. The research team plans to start manufacturing clinical-grade vaccine in the coming months with clinical trials in humans planned soon.

That's cool.
Could they not try a little harder and develop one that blocks the killing effects of it?
Now, you'll still OD, but you just won't have any of that amazing opiod hit to carry you out. That's just disrespectful.

They should name it after George Floyd.

frick that if I’m going to die from fentanyl I’d like to go out feeling good.

It blocks all of the effects of the drug. You wouldn’t die from it.

The problem with fentanyl isn't people intentionally taking it is people taking other things laced with it. This is dumb.

That’s not what I read in what OP posted

Okay. Let's do the reverse.
Could they not try a little harder and not block the euphoric effects of the drug? What....saving lives wasn't enough, they've gotta take away the high, too? That's just disrespectful.

This already exists, it’s called Vivitrol
Didn’t realize it’s fentanyl specific, interesting but not really sure that’s very practical

This may come as a shock to you but fentanyl is also legitimately used as a pharmaceutical pain killer and not everyone with ailments is seeking a psychoactive high

It blocks the physiological effects of the drug. Which means it isn’t going to get to the breathing centers of the brain and tell your body to stop breathing.
That’s how you OD.

I’m well aware of that. What’s your point?

Wrong, it’s called suboxone.

Vivitrol is just extended release naltrexone in a shot form. Monthly versus a daily pill

Yes and it doesn’t work worth a frick. Nothing can stay in your bloodstream for a month. Just ain’t happening.

Can they get to work on mosquito bites next?

I can personally tell you it works with alcohol for a month plus a couple of additional days to fully feel the euphoria of being drunk

I can see it now. Biden will try to mandate it. You know to "protect us" from all the drugs coming across his open Southern border. And when we all balk at being forced to take it, he'll spew out we're not caring about the underprivileged immigrants.
