FWIW - I think Desantis waits. He’s smart enough to know he and Trump share a base. I’d vote for whichever of the 2 wins the nomination, but there are at least 20’pct of Trump’s faithful that are Trump or Bust. Desantis supporters are believers but they won’t stay home if it’s Trump on the ballot.
The GOPe is delusional enough to start pushing Pence for a Pence / Trump beyond thunderdome. That’s what I predict happening.

I haven't watched a Trump rally since 2020, but this seems like a toned down rally speech. I was hoping for him to come out like a mad man swinging his dick around and cursing the name of every cuck and commie in DC.

That is exactly why the GOPe and MSM are pushing DeSantis as the savior right now and blaming the midterms on Trump rather than junk mail in ballots.
