Why is individual freedom such a hard thing to sell?

It should be the easiest thing to vote for. The person who makes the government leave me alone the most is always going to be the winner in my eyes. I just can’t see why other people, especially the majority of other people don’t feel this way.

Because people refuse to believe they need to take care of themselves.

People value free shite over personal freedom

I mean abortion was a key issue in swing/purple states for this reason. The DEMs sold it very well.

The saddest part is that liberals only arguing favor of so called individual freedom when it comes to allowing them to kill babies and they think that makes THEM the party of individual freedom!

Because it's not natural and not human nature. We are inherently drawn to live under tyrants. 99%+ of human civilization has been strong men leading weaker men.
America's founding was very unique, and took brilliant thinkers to come up with a system that could withstand the natural urge for people to vote themselves into tyranny. They tried their best, and amazingly it lasted 250 years. We are likely at the end of the experiment, sadly.

Trump's admin spent the most money on "free shite" of any President in history.

People can't handle the idea of being responsible for their own successes and failures. There's also the tendency for too many to want the government to force others to behave according to one's individual morality.

I agree most Democrats do not understand basic biology.

The answer is that people's collective memory is story, and human nature would rather be ruled than to be free.
We do not hold ourselves accountable as individuals.

Men, as a general group, vote for freedom because they feel they can provide their own security.
Married women, as a general group, vote for freedom because they already have a man providing security.
Single women, as a general group, overwhelm the previous two groups because they overwhelmingly vote for security and they want daddy gov to provide it.

"My body my choice" seems to be a much stronger selling point on their interpretation of "individual rights"
Politics is about selling policies and candidates.

Republicans did a very bad job selling that angle.

The majority of the youngsters under age 35 are scared shitless to take on the full responsibility for their decisions and their lives.

Dems win without good policy or good candidates, and we all know why

Because to enjoy individual freedom one has to be individually responsible for their needs. The weak would be fools to seek freedom, most couldn't cut it outside of the pack.
The solitary bird may fly high, but if he makes a mistake there is no one to catch the fall. Or care about it.

That's only half of it.
The other half is to get out of everyone else's business.
