BC Ticketmaster is making money on both ends. Fees on the initial sale and fees on the resale.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. If you end up in a position where you can't make a show, you have to list well above face value on ticketmaster just to make your initial cost back because of the double dipping on fees.

Didn't realize we had a Taylor Swift level situation trying to get Childers tickets

Surprised me, as well.

Had no issue getting Sturgill or Cody Jinks tickets when they both last came to New Orleans, and figured Childers was on same level as thoae guys.

If I recall, those guys started at a higher price point and jinks had multiple nights.

To the swift comment, these venues are 1/40th the size so no shock they moved very fast still

That said if I have to choose between seeing childers or going out of town for a weekend, enjoy the show guys. This one was an “id really enjoy it at face” not a “$600 a ticket to get seats that are already at the rear of a mediocre venue or $300 to stand on a deep and flat floor that the GF won’t be able to see anything from”

He won’t be for long. A lot if people still haven’t caught on that he doesn’t play some of his biggest hits anymore.

glad I saw him and the band at the varsity for $25 in 2019. those days are gone.

No kidding. Saw him at Hogs for the Cause in 2018 and again at the Civic in NO in 2019. Civic didn't sell out and was probably about $25. We had tix to see him in 2020 in Houston, opening for Sturgill Simpson - but COVID nixed that one. Even those tix were only $50 or so.

I shoulda known this would be a hot ticket when my daughter said she and her friends wanted to go too - I went to the box office Friday at noon thinking presale was just a malfunction and I could score some tix without fees.

Clerk said the presale sold out in 1 minute and the general public sale was over in a few minutes. He done turned a lot of songs into 2X4's.

Can’t really blame these artists for any of this though. Ticketmaster/live nation has them by the nuts. That’s the problem.

Long article on savingcountrymusic.com

quote:

The pre-sale for Tyler Childers’ first full tour in over three years commenced on Wednesday, November 16th, and folks are already incensed that they missed out on tickets that seemed to sell out immediately, while tickets simultaneously appeared on resale markets for prices at insane multipliers. And this is all before the general sale starts on Friday, November 18th, which is likely to see the same issues.

quote:

I’ll be frank: I was stupefied when they announced that Tyler Childers would be playing theaters and amphitheaters on his Send In The Hounds Tour as opposed to full-blown arenas. Right now Tyler Childers could sell out arenas in every market in the United States Coast to Coast, full stop.

quote:

In 2019 when Tyler Childers announced arena tour dates with Sturgill Simpson, many of the dates sold out, and some locations had to double up on dates due to demand. Many dates never got played due to Covid, which kept demand high. With all due respect to Sturgill Simpson who played 2nd on the tour, it was Tyler Childers who was far and away the biggest draw of that ticket.
