Where will he go? What will he do? NFL? Retirement? Run for senate so he can kick Tommy Tuberville's arse again?

I mean the guy is 71, it ends for everyone at some point.

He will coach probably until he knows he can no longer be competitive anymore. I may be wrong but I can't see a way where he retains both Bob and Golding next year, if he does then maybe its over. I just struggle to see how he can hold onto such baggage at this point.

Replace Corso on Gameday or Urban on Fox.

The headline is misleading. Basically McElroy just said he's closer to retirement, which is obvious.

quote:

"I think NIL and the current world of college football will inevitably push him away," McElroy said. "I think he'd coach until he's 100 if it weren't for NIL."

quote:

"I don't think it'd be fair to speculate, but I would probably say closer than he's ever been," McElroy said. "It doesn't mean he's going to go this year. They still have a really good recruiting class coming in.

"I think he needs a (coaching) staff shakeup for sure," McElroy said continuing his answer. "And I think he needs some guys on the staff badly that are from the old school. He's gone young on the staff several times now in an effort to improve recruiting and help recruiting. That's great. Recruiting is big — it's huge — no doubt about it, but you better also have some guys that know how this program is supposed to look.

McElroy says it’s unfair to speculate, and then proceeds to speculate and make unsupported statements.
