Unless something magical happens, he would need Trump to run and lose in 2024.

If Trump wins in 2024 it's almost a guarantee a DEM wins in 2028. Would RDS risk trying to unseat an incumbent in 2032? If not, then we're talking 2036. That's 14 years away and he's term-limited in Florida as governor.

Polls show Trump having a huge lead over Ron in a primary. Ron risks Trump doing what he does and destroying him if he goes hard at Trump. Trumps hardcore base likes Ron as a 2nd option but if Ron tries to hurt Trump they’ll hate him. If he is the conservative but non establishment option that avoids Trump but goes after the rest he will come in 2nd to Trump with about 30-40%. It’s a no win situation and it’s better to wait.

Desantis only chance in 2024 is if Trump doesn’t run again
