Could a 2 loss LSU SEC Champ get snubbed by the CFP committee?

I'll preface this by saying, I'm going to enjoy discussing these scenarios while they last. They may be gone by Sunday morning and we'll be left talking about our hopes and dreams for next year.
Lets say the rankings look like this at the end of the year:
1) Michigan (Undefeated Big 10 Champ)
2) Clemson (Undefeated ACC Champ)
3) TCU (Undefeated Big 12 Champs) (Not likely)
4) ?
For this scenario who gets selected out of the teams listed below:
LSU - 2 loss SEC champs
tOSU - 1 loss in a close game to Michigan
UGA - 1 loss SEC runner up
Tennessee- 1 loss in close game to UGA (big H2H win over SEC champ)
USC - 1 loss PAC-12 champ
I think LSU makes it in on this scenario. We would have to beat the number 6 and most likely number 1 team to get there. I just can't imagine the SEC champ being left out of the CFP, but the committee has done some questionable things in the past.
Can you imagine the amount butthurt that would flow if a 2 loss LSU got in over some of those teams? The most epic melts ever. Talking heads like Joel Klatt are already melting on twitter about us being ranked 10th.

A one loss Tenn or UGA would get in over LSU.

I think they'd go Tennessee. It would be hard to ignore the head to head match up and how decisive Tennessee won that game in Baton Rouge. It would ultimately lead to a bigger playoff, just like 2 loss LSU winning the NC lead to playoffs.

LSU would likely be around #6 at worst when they play the SEC Champ, who would likely be #1 Georgia in your scenario. LSU would likely be higher than #4 if they beat the #1 team in the country for SEC Championship.

This is still more likely than LSU beating UGA/Tennessee. not sure where the disrespect for this program came about. Max Duggan is a stud that has been making noise.

Disagree. They would get in over a TCU/Clemson, but you have to put a 2-loss LSU in for beating the undefeated team that beat the 1-loss Tenn/UGA.
Anyways, this convo doesn’t really matter until 11/6

In my opinion there is only two ways LSU can get in.
1. Win out and beat Tennessee in the SEC Championship.
2. Win out and beat Georgia in the SEC championship. Tennessee loses to Georgia and another game along the way.

It won’t really be a discussion between Tenn or UGA. Hypothetically, whoever LSU beats in SEC CG is out. Then the discussion is between the other 1 loss SECE team & the ACC champ or B12 Champ.

I said it a couple weeks ago. An SEC champion with 2 or fewer losses not making the playoff would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back in regards to the SEC breaking away completely.

It’s not disrespect, it’s just historically how the big 12 operates. The Big 12 always cannibalizes itself. Based on what we’ve seen in the past, TCU will most likely lose to someone late in the season.

The fact that we are starting from the 10th spot instead of 14 or so is gonna make it really hard to keep LSU out if they win the SECCG. Beat Bama this week and LSU jumps to 6 I believe. Bama, USC, Oregon, and whichever East team loses this week could fall behind us. From there Michigan or Ohio State will lose when they play allowing us to slip into the 5th spot prior to the SECCG.

You can’t snubb the sec champ for the sec runner up. So Georgia would be eliminated. If you did, then the integrity of the playoff would be lost.
I don’t think you could put a non-champion OSU in the playoffs as that conference is just not as strong as the SEC.
I think Tennessee would be eliminated as well since they couldn’t win SEC.
A more interesting scenario would be if LSU and Tennessee rematches in the sec title game…. They’d each have a win so I’m not sure what the playoff committee would do.
The PAC12 is weak but a one loss USC who is conference champ may be too much for the committee to resist. Let’s be honest. Some of this has to do with ratings. They want that west coast viewership.

I started thinking about this yesterday. I think we are Tennessee fans this weekend. We want the opportunity to beat Tennessee in the SEC championship game. That follows the narrative of us being the team that improved over the season.

Depends on which SEC Team is in that spot. It would be all about brand at that point. So, no, LSU wouldn't get in unless two or three of the other four had two losses like in 2007.
