I’ll start:
On June 27, 1954, democratically elected Guatemalan president Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán was deposed in a CIA-sponsored coup to protect the profits of the United Fruit Company. Arbenz was replaced by decades of brutal U.S.-backed regimes who committed widespread torture and genocide. LINK

Then we can start a list where the government was overthrown and the ruler and his entire family was murdered.

Zelensky should be nervous. Very nervous. He means nothing — NOTHING — to the wholly corrupted entities that are using Zelensky like a pawn.

Do inventing countries count? Roosevelt invented Panama when Columbia would not let us build the canal.
George Clooney and Obama invented South Sudan.
Conventional CIA methods, I see Libya isnt mentioned yet.

A very barebones article that just happens to leave out a side story that went along with this "coup" which had more serious implications for this nation than just a C.I.A. led coup of a Central American nation.
Nothing in the article even hints at the CIA's use of Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, as their project propagandist for the coup, and how highly regarded he was in his chosen craft. He used United Fruit as his base of operations and main tool for the coup.
But how this guy over all these years has been able to remain just below the surface, and free of in-depth inquiries and hour-long programs on t.v. into what he was all about.
Not mentioned by academics, other than in possibly marketing classes, Bernays is the one who changed the name propaganda to marketing for his own reasons, expedience.
His book Engineering Consent is a chronicle of the success he and the CIA had in Guatemala.
Over the years, the book has been used as a blueprint for regime change.
But it didn't stop there with him.
He went on to establish himself as the most effective propagandist/marketer ever.
Even Goebbels proudly admitted to having his books on his shelf.
The most devastating of Bernays's skillful manipulations was his sentencing of generations of women to suffer chronic COPD and to the nation's pulmonary wards.
He played on women's natural vanity by associating smoking with actors/actresses on the screen and in slick commercials on t.v., even on billboards across the nation.
Even to portray them as public signs of women's independence.
He referred to cigarettes as their "torches of freedom."
Yet he forbade his own wife from smoking in their home.
BTW, who recalls any mention of the '54 CIA-led Guatemalan coup in the classrooms of any propaganda mills.
You'd think that such an event would merit some mention in either International Relations, Comparative Government, Military History, even Psychology when considering what was done down there.
There was a "rest of the story" on this one considering who was involved in it.
