If there is one thing Aranda knows it's LB's
He had some studs at LSU so I like this pickup at a definite position of need
Who knows, if Ojulari goes pro you can assume Perkins takes over that role

I agree. If Aranda offers a linebacker he can play. I think House is the same way. He seems pretty damn good as well

Dave Aranda and Matt House want him, he’s a good linebacker prospect.

No kidding, and I still cannot understand why LSU finds it difficult to recruit LBs when we are so thin at that position.

Perkins isn't ever going to play the Ojulari role. Ojulari is a true EDGE player--a guy who is a straight up passrusher--whereas Perkins is a true *linebacker* who just happens to also be an awesome passrusher. You're never going to see Perkins play with his hand in the dirt like ojulari.

I actually think we'll transition to more of an odd-front defense next year--and the guy in the "Ojulari role" will play more standing up and play a slightly more traditional LB role (though he will still be a common passrusher). If i had to guess, it will be Sav'ion jones in that role. He and perkins will be the most common 4th passrushers, but neither will come at the same frequency that ojulari does. Instead, we will be able to show even more different pressure looks than we have this year. This (lots of simulated pressures and having the 4th passrusher come from all kinds of different places) seems to be the way that House likes to play--it's just that Ojulari is too good a passrusher not to use him as a passrusher consistently. And Gaye doesn't really have the LB skills. But Jones, so far, seems like he'll be perfect for that 3-4 hybrid LB/"overhang" role.

What I like about this is that the coaching staff did not wait around. They knew that They needed a linebacker so they went and got one that they feel good about.

The previous staff would have chased a five star until signing day and then we would’ve been empty-handed.
