Adderall is an amphetamine. It is designed for ADHD and shouldn't be taken for recreation.

Granted, I’m not a fan of getting into drug use in my 40s, but convince me why I shouldn’t take a couple pills if I’m trying to get through a big project or crisis situation at work.

I was going to edit my prior post but I didn't want you to miss this:

IF you do decide to take it, adderall metabolizes more readily in a higher pH stomach environment and absorption is inhibited by citrus, vitamin C and a lower pH.

This isn't medical advice but many people will take an H2 blocker, like famotidine (Pepcid), or a PPI, like omeprazole (Prilosec), 30 min - 1 hour prior to using the adderall.

And don't forget to eat, even though you won't want to. Protein/meal replacement shakes are much easier to consume when you're high on a stimulant.

Is this personal experience? Or reading off google?

The real explanation that’s needed, is why weed is viewed in the same way as heroin federally, whenever it’s not even as dangerous for you as alcohol.

You meth heads need to lay off all the legal pills.

Who cares what we say. It’s sounds like your hell bent on doing it anyway so go for it.

Harmful side effects ? How about having perpetual sleeping problems, not eating a damn thing for a few days, and constantly drinking alcohol just to slow you down at night? Like the type of crap that will turn you into an alcoholic and have you on sleeping pills for years. You will be the most unhealthy you will ever be on it. There’s an absolute price to pay for things like this. Odds are you will withdraw away from your friends and life and become introverted. Once you start taking it you can’t do anything without it. It becomes a dependence. I won’t even get into the mental issues it causes with long term use. There’s physiological problems too

All I can tell you is that with the shortage, I know someone that can’t get it filled. Coming off it was absolutely hell. They’re just about over the withdrawals and I’m trying to convince them to stay off. So I would say a harm is horrible withdrawals.

Not saying that person didn't have a subjectively horrible experience but adderall WD is comparatively mild for anyone that's had to come off of long term opioid use, benzos, a severe alcohol addiction and even meth.

Many patients I see on adderall have dental issues, problems with receding gums as a result and it's permanent. Also see receding hairline. Both are not a good look IMO.

I don’t doubt that at all. Especially alcohol withdrawal. I’m only speaking from what I observe. I’ve not gone through it. And I have nothing to compare it to. But they’re not like strung out on heroin withdrawal or anything like that. Just miserable and trying to hold strong and not get back on it.

Ymmv, side effects are very mild. Skipping the medication after a few days on it, you will probably get a little hangover effect. Sleep patterns may be affected. May cause a second poop in the morning.

I was told it has a very long history with few physical risks.

Definitely get the script and see how you like it. Definitely improves focus, and if you want to work on something, productivity too.

It turns you into a gaping a-hole when you’re not on it. Sounds like you already have that covered.

I hear ya. How long have they been off?

Post-acute withdrawal (PAWS) can last months for a long-term user on a high dose. It can take awhile for the brain to return to natural dopamine levels, and even when it does, there's the psychsomatic issue of knowing how you felt when you were on it.

Exercise will help your friend immensely.

Wow... Double digit IQ post.

What kind of retard drinks alcohol to 'slow down' when taking a stimulant?

On what planet does that seem like a good idea vs simply talking to your doctor and saying 'its not working, im not taking thisshit anymore.'

Adderall specifically only lasts a few hours.

It's half-life is short.

But sure, a mediocre stimulant that is cleared by the body within a day it's to blame for someone's alcoholism and sleeping pill addiction.

Yeah. This is just plain retarded, reefer madness level shite.

I tried it once. Honestly, I felt weird when it kicked in and I didn't enjoy it. Just was a weird feeling, didn't like it, and never tried it again.

Why do people say this? You have either not done coke or you have not taken addy. Coke scatters your brain, and Adderall makes you focus. Not saying it's not bad, but this is a lazy comparison.

Many people that benefit from Adderall are already scatter-brained. Cocaine can often have similar benefits for those people.

Stimulants can have a focusing effect for those with ADHD. So, whether it’s cocaine or Adderall, the experience is similar for people that are already scatter-brained.

It’s last 12 hours . That’s long as hell. It’s addictive as hell and very prone to abuse. I’m not guessing about any of this.
