WHY in the frick would they issue subpoena, when Trump already said he was willing to testify?? He just insisted it be 'live', not pre-recorded for them to edit and manipulate what he says (like they've done for how many years?)

The goal all along was to ensure Trump could not run for office and this is their ultimate play.
Next will be trying to invoke the 14th amendment which they'll likely get plenty of help on both sides of the aisle.

IF Trump tells them to go frick themselves they will get a contempt charge like they did Bannon and try and preclude him running for office.
If he invokes his rights under the 5th, they will paint it as having something to hide.
The wild card - On the other hand, I read somewhere were Trump said he might actually show up and take them on which would be glorious to watch.

Trump card: Trump declares executive privilege like every other president and if congress forces the issue it is to SCOTUS we go.

I support using subpoena power to investigate where the evidence leads.
Does the fact he is a former president and political opponent give him immunity from investigation and possible prosecution by subsequent administrations?
