Looks like they have rides and some bands. Anyone ever been? Are the crowds as big as Mardi Gras out there?

Much, much smaller crowd than Mardi Gras. Lot of crafts vendors, some rides, and a few food trucks.

Not as good as the one in Pawnee.

What are they celebrating? Sugar cane?
So probably like the Rice Festival in Crowley, but much sweeter.

It's slightly chilly, so it's going to end up being a bunch of white people closer to the water.
Count me out, crackers.

The 'False River Beer Mile' is all about having fun and competing for bragging rights! Four laps. Four beers. One mile.
During Harvest Festival weekend, following the Sugar Rush 5K, join False River Paddle Club in the ultimate feat of athleticism and drinking prowess.
How does it work? Beer will be distributed at the start line for the first lap and may not be opened/consumed prior to race start.
At the start of each lap, each participant consumes a 12oz beer within the 10-meter drinking zone. Empty beers must be tipped over in the beer drinking zone prior to starting the next lap.

St George Festival is where it's at this weekend

There's a Harvest Festival Rodeo in New Roads tomorrow. Is that the same thing?
Because that's not a huge facility. It's not going to support several thousand people and rides.

Oh no …I am offended… not the “C” word…
Sticks and stones you know.
However I’m white so, do they have pie at this festival?

I think the big harvest around False River is sugar cane...so expect a lot of funnel cakes, beignets and the like.

Wouldn't mind seeing Third World. Saw them many years ago. Unfortunately I have other obligations this weekend, and not fun ones.

Haven’t been since 2012-2013. It was fun then.
More to your point - I don’t know anymore. Most of these little town fests get overrun with trash after the first year or so.

Go during the day on Saturday. Not sure if you have kids, but go during the wrist band time if you do. It's not overrun, but tends to get a little darker at night if you catch my drift.

Went tonight with our 2 year old. She had a blast until she got a little over tired. She was mesmerized by the parade. It was a lot of fun - much smaller crowd than Mardi Gras.
Definitely a nice trip for families.

One year they had $5 Ghost in the Machine at the bar below Satterfield’s. I don’t remember much else, because they had $5 Ghost in the Machine.

I can remember when it was the Alma Plantation Harvest Festival. Alma is the big sugar mill in the Parish that buys the cane. They sponsored the big festival in the early days to celebrate the harvest and give back to the community. Can anyone spot the evil word that was so offensive that they bailed out?

Baw, you need to hit up the Washington Parish Free Fair next week. They got a guy named jelly roll playing music there one night.
