I def. agree with your Pelican Club and Andrea's remarks.

For my overated I have to go with Jaquemos

Underated I will go with La Boca. Those that have been love it, but it really does not get much publicity and such for how good it is.

I agree with your two as well. I like Jacquesimo's, but its not even a top 20 restaurant in this city, though many swear its the best (mostly tourists).

Who under-rates Clancys?

I like the place, but, if anything, it seems somewhat overhyped, especially by the local Uptowngencia.

Outside of Uptown circles, it is hardly ever mentioned I find. They have a very loyal following, but dont advertise much and many have never been.

So Y.A., who you got over/underrated?

Over - Palace Cafe, any Wolfes place, the Vizard place du jour, pretty much all Brennans affiliated places outside of Mr. Bs and Commanders (although commanders borders on being OVERrated, just because of how much it gets hyped), most "Creole" Italian places.

Under - La Petite Grocery, Lilette, Guy's poboys, NorJoes muff, Gulf Pizza

1179 is overrated. Same exact menu can be found in any other city in America. I'm not a fan.

I don't really consider Palace Cafe as being overrated, as it's mostly a tourist spot anyway.

Bourbon House is great if you're having some drinks and eating a few dozen raw. Beyond that, it's a pretty average place.

Not a fan of Bacco.

I agree with the Pelican Club's underrated label. Great place. Serious wine list.

"One" is also vastly underrated, IMO.

I actually really like Andrea's. It's much more experimental than the typical red sauce Italian places in the area (See above reference to 1179).

I used to love it, up until the chef died. I've been back once, since, and it was horrible.

I have given it several tries, but have had some truly awful meals there.

Maybe I will give it one more shot. I want it to be good because there are not many good Italian places around here. What do you get?

I've only been once. But, I found the food to be mediocre and the atmosphere to be like a Ramada Inn banquet room.

Fitzmorris (who doesn't so much kiss his arse, as just completely whore himself to for Andrea) claims he's really dumbed down the menu, from when it first opened. I ate there about 3 years ago, but recall people raving about the place 10-15 years ago.

I usually ask them which fish is the best that night. Most recently I had a really outstanding Dover sole.

Most people seem to feel the way you do about it. I'm definitely in the minority these days. But let us know how it goes on Friday, either way.
