Just canceled mine and have spread the word, several others canceling. Found out a friend of mine has his account emptied by PayPal because he was selling ammunition. Outright theft.

Does Venmo follow the same terms since it’s the same company? Need to check it out, many folks are using Venmo for personal transactions.

Thats crazy. My business has one but the account is linked to one at my bank that I keep $1 in. I use that account for overseas wire transfers and never put money in it unless I am sending money. And any money transferred into that account by one of my vendors is transferred to my general account within minutes.

Hopefully they cant get to the other account.

They do that to the wrong person and they might end up with a mass shooter at their offices.

So, declaring "New Policy" lets your "fine" users $2,500?

Sounds legit.

Earlier this year, I noticed an debit on my bank account that I had not authorized, after checking around I found that this was a common Paypal protocol and no big deal. I knew better. I de-linked my accounts from Paypal the next day.

Paypal should know better; they'll take a hit on this as soon as the word gets around. Of course, they are between a rock and a hard place, Joe would whack em' if they don't.

They’ve already backtracked. It would have been the death of their company.

A new PayPal user agreement that threatens to fine users up to $2,500 if they use the service to "promote misinformation," was sent out "in error," a PayPal spokesperson tells FOX Business.

Thanks for posting. I have Paypal but never used it. I just closed my account and deleted the app from my phone. They have their policy and I have mine.

Saw this link on another board. Must have had a lot of cancellations. Is still terrifying that this appears to have been considered.

This seems highly illegal and no way would stand up in court ,but the audacity to try this is pretty ridiculous. Anyway I stopped using this shite service a long time ago.

What is the viable alternative to Paypal? I know Gab was working on one. Is there another?

Dumb stuff on PayPal's part. Apparently the policy was created w/o proper oversight. It was amplified though by odd language in the article implying the policy was applicable to any postings on internet message boards, etc. It wasn't.
quote:

The policy applies to actions taken using PayPal’s platform.

Regardless, the company cancelled the policy immediately.

We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused.”
