To be fair there were flags on both those plays and in the moment it would be hard to tell if they were against us or not.

Average rantards biggest enemies.. The starting QB, Radio Announcer, Head Coach

People bitched to no end about Hawthorne lol

He was pretty subdued on the other big plays as well.

Maybe he had Auburn plus the 9?

His lack of emotion on the biggest play of the game is odd. That strip sack touchdown completely changed this game. Reminded me so much of 2011 when lsu would start super sluggish and honey badger would make a play on defense triggering the entire team to start playing well.

We have heard him excited before in past games but I will agree he was over all subdued there…

I had the radio on with the television on mute.

That was far from his best game but his excuse can be that his enthusiasm on scoring plays was tempered by penalty flags laying on the ground even though they ended up being on the other team.

Hawthorne was awful, stop being blinded by nostalgia.

The most frequent defense of him is that he was a committed homer. It isn’t the compliment you think it is

I like Blair and thought he was very unenthused all game. The whole atmosphere even on TV seemed kind of dull. I know it wasn't in the stadium but the while night seemed to have a very meh atmosphere. Joe Tess did what he could though.

My first thought after listening to highlights was he was distracted with something that game and normally I wouldn’t even notice

never really liked Blair, especially in football… I used to listen to every game Jim called, even the rough years at the end, this guy just has ZERO emotion for LSU, and i can’t buy his fake caring…

To be fair, the game had it's moments, but it was pretty much a boring game.

Not bad if it was television, but for radio that is extremely sterile. Add to the fact that he's supposed to be a bit of a homer, that just knocks his grade down even further.

He had way more enthusiasm when he first started. Not sure what's going on.

Circumstances were such that I had to listen to the Arkansas game last year.
I was unimpressed to the point of disappointment in his call. I wish that wasn't the case.
Pretty sure I started a thread about it or at least commented on another one.
Hawthorne was always OK by me but I found that him calling basketball - even when I was watching the game - was just short of unbearable.
