Man I love this show. Almost done with season 1.
Moved to Austin when they were filming the first season so would so Kyle Chandler around but just was busy at the time and never watched the show.
What I like about it are many things.
1) Acting isn’t perfect but I really like ALL the characters so I’m ok with it not being perfect.
2) It was made for TV so traditionally 15 years ago it was more wholesome and not pushing LGPDQ BS and angling politic at every opportunity.
3) In 2005 cell phones and computers we had them obviously but not to near the degree they are attached to our arms now. So not part of the show really at all which is nice.
4) Very and wholesome family oriented and God Fearing people which give the show a baseline for sanity purposes.
5) I love Freaking Football and Beautiful women.

Thats all Folks. Check it out if haven’t, and definitely worth a rewatch if it’s been a while.

Such a great show

It’s in that second tier for sure of elite TV shows

Not as good as Sopranos/Wire/Breaking Bad type but better than 99% of everything else

Great show and highly rewatchable. It’s such a “comfy” show to relax and watch 2-3 episodes at once on an afternoon for all the reasons you already described. the second season kind of jumps the shark because of the writers’ strike that was going on at the time but the rest of the seasons are solid. I think season 1 is still my favorite.

1) Everyone needs a friend like Buddy and a girl like Lyla.

2) Usually, I skip through the intro cast music or tune but couldn’t on this show. It gave me the chills every time it came on.

3) This show takes me back to the mid 2000s when I was carefree, playing high school football, and the world wasn’t as messed up as it is now.

FYI, Streets plays one of the main characters, Tucker, in “Heart of Dixie” (chick show but good nonetheless)

It's relateable too. So many places in the south have a Buddy around town involved with sports.

I watched a few of this back then but 2006 was a tough year lol and also some other good shows and fell off.

Watching anew now. Thanks for the reminder and suggestions.

Do they announce late season 1 that all the people you thought were seniors are now sophomores or save that for season 2 premiere?

Just remember, they're like 14 and 15 year olds in season 1.

Great show. I watched it for the first time about a year ago and couldn’t turn away. I never realized how many people were in it.

Streets and the coach’s daughter were the only characters I really didn’t like at all.

The ending was great and the first two seasons were great. The rest is just MEH... I did enjoy watching it, just not as much.

The ending is worth it IMO.

I’m in the middle of a rewatch too. Love the show.

One thing that has come up: Dillon, Texas has the highest rate of statutory rape in the world.
