I've never been but Valencia looks like an amazing city.
Wasn’t our favorite but I’m glad we went.

It amazes me how cheap it is. Nice apartments for like $120 a night. Your can stay crap for 30-40 a night too. While apartment.
Just got an Airbnb next to the beach in LA Barceloneta.
Only really doing toledo and Barcelona. Only spending a few hours in Madrid.

While you're in Barcelona, Montserrat is completely worth visiting. Gorgeous monastery and views.

Currently in Barcelona, just got our backpack jacked today. Lost about $700 worth all together but family is ok. Could have been worst but still sucks… Sigh.

I watch videos of walks through European cities and landscapes. Spain has by far the best looking women of them all. Also Spanish beach walk videos are legit.
I like to watch some of those. Usually listen to Bossa Nova and watch Rio/Ipanema or Tokyo and listen to City Pop.

Sorry to hear that. It's good practice not to wear a backpack in the cities and to keep wallets in your front pocket. Do not put your cell phone down on the table when you eat outside.

do you have a particualr channel you like, or a specific phrase you search for?
That sounds interesting I'd like to check some out as well

No. Just search the city and walking tour. There are tons out there.
Thailand night walks are a riot. That place looks crazy.

Did someone just grab it and dash?

That is the one thing you have to worry about in Barcelona. Theft is rampant so you have to be constantly on guard.

Big on Seville. First time there this summer and just loved it. Great old city, wonderful food, walkable, vibrant. May have moved into my favorite Spanish city.

Was very vigilant the entire trip, knowing Barcelona’s reputation. Sat it down, for 30 seconds to take a picture (my fault) around Sagrada Família area looked back and didn’t see it….looked around and reported to police in the area but instantly I knew it was gone forever.

Agree with Ronda over Gibraltar.
Granada over Ronda.

I only learned how to order jamon iberico be Bellota, shrimp with garlic and the other seafood and meats in Spanish and Catalunyan. And how to ask for bill and table or bar. Other than that I'm going hand gestures and high school Spanish class.

So one thing I'm preparing for is the pickpockets. Going on Bourbon a lot in my 20s I'm used to them. Though from what I understand the euro ones are way more organized. Though they will almost never pull a knife or a gun on you if you catch them or try and stop them.
I heard by Sagrada, Las ramblas and on the metro it's really bad.
I got one of those silly money belts to wear under my shirt to keep my passport and euros in. I'm slightly considering one of those Baerskin hoodies with the 9 pockets. I just wish it didn't have the hood.
I'm bringing a go pro but an older one in case it walks and no point and shoot.
Sucks you lost your stuff. I hear that is just so common though and I'm most worried about that preparing for how and what I pack.

Agree on all points and I'll add that we found Seville to be incredibly affordable compared to Barcelona. We ate at a Michelin restaurant in Seville and had a tastings menu plus a few glasses of Sangria and we got out of there for 100 euro. No way you can do that at a Michelin restaurant in Barcelona.

Not necessary to be overly paranoid. Just a single lapse of judgment on my part. We never felt threatened anywhere we went but obviously there’s a lot of professional thieves waiting and watching you very carefully.

My order of preference
Barcelona - architecture and food culture
Granada/Alhambra - *Alhambra for great history and architecture
Seville - outdoor cafes and flamenco
Mallorca - if you can consider a venture to a laid back Mediterranean isle
Ronda - picturesque, quaint, but probably too far for too little
